Need help with radiators for my first water cooling

I'm building my first water cooling and need advice.

I just ordered NZXT Switch 810 and I'm thinking buying
Alphacool NexXxos 420mm

Should I buy UT60 with pull at top or XT45 push pull?

I am new to watercooling myself, but have been doing lots of research the last few weeks.

From what i have seen its probably more sensible to go with the thicker radiator, if i was doing it i would be leaning towards the UT60

I looked hard at that case for my next project, infact i would say go 360 radiator in the top and fit the Monsta (80mm) but thats because i think it looks epic! lol

I have fans already for 140mm. And I dont know much, but the volume of 360x120x80 is same as 420x140x60 so in sense the heat emission should be same.

And to my earlier question I'd love to have UT60 push pull, but it wont fit. XT45 would. But the problem is that I don't know which one is better. Does greater air flow compensate for lower volume?

to an extent, like i say I'm no expert and don't have the direct experience... from what i have read you can knock a few more degrees off if running a push pull set up.

I do know the switch lends itself really well to water cooling, and if a 360 rad 60mm thick can cool a cpu and gpu i see no reason at all why a 45mm 420 rad wouldn't.

What are you planning on cooling? are you going with just the one rad or sticking another in the bottom?

I'm going UT60 280 at bottom. And my problem is not whether those will cool it. My problem is only Math with on greater sign. Which one is better? I know both will do, but other is better.

i dont think there is a right or wrong answer,

from what i have learned the last few weeks which ever way you go thats some pretty decent level of cooling you will have.

As to which is better? for me the thickest possible rad and 1 bank of fans. Water cooling is about being cool and quiet, the thicker rad will tick those boxes.

Good luck with the build

you can do the 420 on top in push pull since one set of fans actually got outside the case on top. I'm running a 420 60mm thick rad on top (push/pull) and a 280 60mm rad on bottom (push/pull) with a oc'd 2600k and dual 6950's flashed to an overclocked 6970 specs. my temps are great i rare;y see over 50c on anything during extensive gaming sessions.

your motherboard has space on top between edge and heatsink :) as does my current one, But my next motherboard will be MSI Big Bang Xpower II or Asus P9X79 Deluxe and it has heatsink right on edge of the board :) And what I gathered from overclocked3d review about the case 60mm+25mm won't fit.

Then there is this

at 600-1000rpm xt45 should be sligthly better? but then I also think it's about the fans too. my fans are akasa viper 140mm and I'm running them on 600-1000rpm. but what that review says for me is, 45mm or 60mm doesn't matter same heat emission.
