Need help picking parts for an upgrade

I think I'm leaning toward the Enermax Infiniti b/c of it being modular. I have never had a modular psu but I think it would be cool to get rid of clutter. If not, then probably the OCZ

haha totally threw me for a loop there with the P5B deluxe or the intel xbx2. Why do you recommend these?

And as for the psu, those 3 you recommended seem to be the best for what I need

The P5B Deluxe is a great board and both me & XMS love it. I find it very easy to get stable with the right BIOS and it's a champ, overclocking wise.

The Intel XBX2 is also another extremely good board that's very easy to get used to and overclock with. Ask Frag, he loves his thus far. My friend Sean loves his too. Sean has done multiple vMods, etc and it still runs like a champ. Depends on what you want tbh, but they're both great boards. The 965p chipset is a bit slower clock-for-clock than the 975x but the 965p board is cheaper. Bottom line is, both boards should max out either an E6600 or an E6700 easily on the average joe's water or air cooling.

I used to think Modular couldn't be all that better than just stuffing wires somewhere till I got it. Not only is it cleaner but it comes in handy when you want to test your rails with your DMM. Just plug in one of the spare wire strands and test instead of trying to find & dig out a molex connector from the inner depths of hell that we commonly call the 5.25" bay area.

Thanks for the comments guys, it's really helping me out.

Still don't know what to look for in RAM other than the timings and whether it is PC-6400.

Contrary to NickS, I've found the 965 chipset to be slightly faster than the 975X. The P5B Deluxe or the ASUS Commando get's my vote and the xbx2 for a 975 board.

Ok I have made up my mind on a few things.

For the psu I am definitely going with the enermax infinity 720w modular. Can't argue with the gold seal of approval heh heh

As for the processor I would like to get the E6700

Because of this, I'm going to shed 200 bucks off the price of the motherboard and go with something like the AW9D Max or the Commando or something like that. Still need to do a bit more homework

Once I find RAM I'll post it for your opinions

Another thing too, I am not going to buy a new graphics card at this point. I figure that I will just buy the other stuff, saving me 700 bucks. I'll be using my 7800GTX until the R600 is released and I can see whether or not it is as good as it's supposed to be.

Feel free to post more comments to help me out.

How soon are you buying? The E6700 drops in price by 40% in April look

As for the mobo - the MAX is awesome - I regret parting with if for the icfx3200 (like Kemp said it is a really fussy mobo) so much so I swapped it out for the commando - which is shaping up to be a sweet little mobo. You can't go wrong with either the max or the commando.

I'm waiting for the r600 too - if anything, nvidia will drop prices to compete/release the 8900 so i'm with you on this one, wait it out.

As for an air cooler try the enzotech Frag got one and seems to be loving it!

Ye I think I am going to wait until april like you said. I like saving money lol. I have my Zalman 9500CNPS as my heatsink so I'm all good on that end. Thanks for all the comments, I'll post closer to buying the parts.
