I overclocked my cpu from 3.36 to 4ghz

was just concerned about the 8C temp increase...

My computer specs are:

i7 860

with H50 cooler.

Mobo: Gigabyte P55A-UD4P v2 Bios (F13)

Memory: 4GB Corsair Dominator 8-8-8-24 1.65v

Idle Temps:

#0 42C

#1 37C

#2 43C

#3 37C

Max load from #0-3 67C, 61C, 64C, 64C

I used OCCT and got a CPU too Hot! Error with HT enabled after 1hr 21mins

Also ran it without HT enabled and had no errors for 2hrs

Maybe I need more air coming into the case? I will try redoing the thermal paste tomorrow.

here's what I set in the Bios

CPU Clock Ratio - 20x

QPI Clock ratio - x32

Base clock (BCLK) - Enabled

BCLK Freq - 200

XMP - Disabled

System memory multi - 8.0

Cpu Clock drive - 800mV

PCI Express - 900mV

CPU Clock skew - 0ps

Intel T boost - Disabled

Cpu cores - ALL

Cpu M Threading - Enabled

CPU Enhanced Halt - disabled

c3/c6/c7 - Auto

CPU T Monitor - Auto

CPU Eist Function - Disabled

Bi Directional p. - Auto

Loadline Calibration - Disabled

CPU vcore - 1.275V

QPI vtt volts - Auto

PCH Core - Auto

CPU pll - Auto

Dram voltage - 1.6400v <-- (mobo doesn't have 1.65)

*The rest are on Auto*

Thanks in advance!

Hey

Couple of things, I'd set it to 1.66v on DRAM cos it's better to have that little bit more rather than less.

To be honest, providing the temps are still within a safe amount, I wouldn't worry.

I also noticed a large jump in temps when going from 3.6 to 4, but it was still within a safe amount.

I redid the thermal paste and reseated the H50 cooler

does these core temps look normal to you guys? with about a 5C gap in between cores? Or does it seem like its lapping?
