Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed

A wheel is nearly a necessity in most decent track or simulation racing games.

Nothing wrong with using a keyboard, its just that the keyboard signals are digital, but with the wheel you can vary acceleration and steering. Makes things so much more smooth

You guys are from some weird planet. I haven't used a keyboard in a racing game since "Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed" and that was in 2000. Digital controls are barely adequate for the SNES Super Mario Kart. Although when I tried to get my wife to play GT5 with the gamepad, she used the thumbsticks as if they were digital.

So when I used to play Tom at Shift, why could I beat him quite often? (About 50:50) I was using a keyboard and he was using some monstrous setup with a racing seat and a wheel and pedals.

i play online on grid, blur, hot pursuit, dirt 2 and shift with the keyboard i do just as well as i do with my controller, never used a wheel and pedals though

As much as I hate using AA in this game(ATI does not do well with this game- same as shift one)

You can get some very nice screenies(NOT the bloody awful autolog rubbish that messes with them first)

Just a couple that I took some colours out of:

The reflection detail on that R35 is very good!

Only snag is with AA on,it runs like a dog! So I could not get the shot that I wanted for the R35(anyone with a mighty card wanna help me out

And how did you take the screenshots? Was it with the in game function? Which for me, crashes all the time :/

Sod that,if you use that, the damm thing freezes,I just paused the replay went into photo mode and used FRAPS,at least then the shots stay on my pc in a readable format

Shift games are garbage with broken controls; that was my point!!! Try playing Dirt 2 online with a keyboard.

...I wouldn't be surprised if it's actually better to use the keyboard with these NFS games, since the gamepad and wheel controls are BROKEN. I don't know if the following is also the case in the first version, though:

Do you guys play games other than NFS trash?

Compare this to another racing game (GTR2; IGN's "Best PC Racing Game of 2006"):

Just checked, and I have a bit of lag but not that much. Also, even if there was this much lag, I would just compensate. It's not hard.

There is no need to compensate in GRID, GT5, Dirt 2, GTR games, F1 2010, Mario Kart: Double Dash... I don't have to play an NFS game. I'm not sure why anybody would want to play this game in this state, but I'm not a mind reader.

Because it's really not that much of an issue? I found nothing wrong with it, and I can go to f1 2010 and still race fine. I don't know why everyone is complaining so much.

input lag is something you can work around tho, i have had the stuttering fps issue too and thats not something you can compensate for.

tabbing out and back in solves that issue for anybody else with it

good game for me, best ea racer ever.

Cheers man, how do you get them to upload full size? When I upload to photobucket they always resize themselves. Very annoying.

the input lag has actually stopped me playing the game.........its impossible to control cars on experienced with around 900bhp at the back of your car.

it seems to be a gradual thing in game though, like a memory leak of some sort. the game gradually uses up more resources and gradually becomes more and more unresponsive.
