Need a new VGA-cooler, problem with space.

Heya.

I just got myself a new videocard, a 4870, but it's WAY too warm.

My problem is however, i have no clue how to cool it the best way.

Starting off with a picture of the current setup;

I've been thinking about a HR-03, but that would take up 3 PCI-slots (fan included), so it will land just above the network-card, and the fan from the HR-03 and the fan from the power supply. I can however turn the HR-03, but then it would blow everything into the HR-01.

Best case solution, AFAIK, would be to have some kind of fan blowing backwards, as the HR-01. Then i could add a fan like this (i guess some of you know antek nine-hundred);

What do you think? What should i invest in?

This is completely irrelevant to you, but you made good use of Paint.

Completely sorry for being no help to you. :p

Perhaps, perhaps. I'll see if i can ugly-hack a few 80mm-ers in there, blowing the air from the powersupply and the videocard out the PCI-holes.

I'll google a bit more. :-)

Try to tidy all your cable and add 120 fan right behind the card flow air to the back case, it should cheap this way. Hope it help.

+1 Don't waste your money on a better gfx cooler, You'll gain little overclock compared to the stock cooler. And the thermalright will just add heat into the system case.

Stick with stock, remove two case baking plates from the back of the case so hot air can exite when a 120mm fan blows down the card towards the back of the case.

The plates, (metal card slot pieces) to remove are the ones directly above and below the card. This should remove gfx card heat from within the case.

Hope this Helps. :)

You know what I had that type of problem a few years back, but I made use of a spair 80mm fan I put it onto my side panel (after getting it cut by somebody else). It actually did the trick. It was running so cool.

The case is soo gone.

Actually, it's GIMP. :-)

OK

Good use of Linux (Thinking Ubuntu right?) and Gimp

I do have a whole in the side, built in the nine-hundred, for a 120mm-fan. I had a noctua-fan there before, but then i got my HR-01, and it takes upp all the space there ever was, nearly hitting the sidepanel. No room for a fan there.

Actually I'm a Gentoo'er (Ubontu is for newbs :D (no offence, linux newbies)), but I have Vista installed aswell, for gaming. ;-)
