NAS Not really usable over wireless (bridge needed?)

Currenty this is my setup:

Living room downstairs - connected to my router I have the internet modem and my NAS drive (Synology 207+)

Bedroom upstairs - PS3 (Used for online play and media streaming)PC, and two smartphones all connect to the WIFI.

My problem is transfer speed are not good enough between my NAS and my pc/PS3. It takes forever to transfer files and it can be jittery with media streaming with SD and totally unwatchable with HD content. The wireless signal just isnt strong enough for my demand... What I'm thinking of doing is:

Option 1:

Buying a Powerline network adaptor kit. have it connected to the modem in the living room, and connect the second one to a ethernet switch in the bedroom and connect the PC/PS3/NAS to the switch.

Option 2: Get some kind of Ethernet converter using the existing wireless network, and then obviously connect the switch in the same manner. Would this do the job, it seems quite a versitile device AirStation™ Nfiniti™ Wireless-N Dual Band Ethernet Converter, Access Point & Bridge WLAE-AG300N

Any help would be appriciated, dont wanna fork out money only to realise there was a far better/cheaper solution out there...

Just as an afterthought, my housemates think im messing up the internet connection because of my nas being connected to the router for some reason, so less hardware in the living room would be a plus.

I think my mind just exploded... hahah I think option 1 would be the way to go but I have no clue what a powerline network adapter kit is (I could google it but I'm being lazy) but I was thinking along the lines of something familiar to option 1:

Connect the PS3/PC/NAS to the switch and connect the switch to the router then connect the router to the modem? (lolwut) using UTP cables (or is this not possible due to wires)

The WIFI connections could be the same.

It would be useful if you could provide a diagram of sorts such as one made in paint.

Hope this helps will clarify or try to explain better if you need me to.

I might be missing something here but why not move your NAS drive into your bedroom and get a cheap Ethernet switch and plug your NAS drive, PC and PS3 into that? Your PC would be able to connect to the internet through your wifi and your NAS drive through the LAN. Not 100% sure but I would have expected your PS3 to be able to do the same.

If that fails I'd go for option 1 as I'm a fan of wire's over wireless although I haven't tried those powerline network plugs myself so how good they are I'm really not sure.

wire up your house, get some cat 6, and a stapler, and be creative

The PS3 needs a gigabit ethernet connection to do HD streaming. If a wired connection isn't an option, you need to lower the quality of the streams.

Wiring the house simply isn't an option as i'm only renting... as well as the nas and PS3 being networked for media streaming they also must have internet access (well the ps3) same goes for the pc, if I just had it connected to the router for the internet, tranfer speeds of files to my NAS would be poo...

I'm thinking option one is the most viable solution as it has all bases covered, only reservation is that ive heard they interfere with some 2.4ghz wireless devices, is this true?

I guess I don't understand why getting a cheap Ethernet switch is not an option as Karlos suggested.

Powerline adapters work very well, my mate uses one. I've heard some things about it causing interference, but from what my friend says he doesn't have an issue.
