Help with 2 Routers

Type-8

New member
So, i'm moving house in a few months. At the new place we have an office at the front, and a house about 35m behind it. There is internet connected to the front building only, however we need internet in both (there will be multiple wired and wireless devices in both buildings).

Soooo, my solution was simply to purchase 2 routers and run a 50m ethernet cable through a piece of conduit between the 2 buildings. I'm planning on using Asus RT-AC88 Routers.

So my question is, am i going to run into any issues with a setup like this? Or alternately, is there a better solution that i'm not seeing?

Any help is appreciated. I've never had to use more than 1 router on a single network so i just want to make sure that i'm not missing something.

My first thought was exactly that, but i realized that i do need WiFi as well in the second building. Its a fairly large building too, hence the higher end router.

Cheers for the reply though

You'd be better off running a switch to various wireless access points. They should be cheaper than routers as they don't do any routing.

Ok cheers, i'll price that up and see how much cheaper it works out.

Thanks Guys

Ive got an AC88U in the office and the AC5300 next door at 'home' - Ive got the AC5300 set up as an access point (option in the set up config) and the two work together really well.

Downside is the cost, and the two together run about £800.

If you need wifi then AP's are going to be the way forward but how many depends on the size of the building etc. Annoying as it is I would start with one and then do wifi tests to see if you need more and where would be best to put them. It is a bit of a mind field to advise from here without seeing it so trial and error may be best.
