Hey OC3D Family,

I am sorta new here and I need help from Pro Fulltime Geek folk to help lil old me oot of a small jam. I am planning my next Power Gaming Rigas the following build is an Base idea and i am looking to spend Max £1500. If anyone can Suggest good quality ideas on parts i would great fully appreciate them and

Aerocool X-Predator Ultimate - White
Intel i7 47k
Sabretooth Z87 (Idea)
Corsair H series Cooler (would go custom for right price)
16GB Kingston, Mushkin or Corsair 2400mhz (not decided)
MSI HD 7970 Lightning (Might buy R Series for right price)
256GB SSD x2 (Suggestions on Reasonable price and brand)
1TB Storage
Corsair Pro HX Series 850w

Also looking at if someone knows where i can get my Case Custom Painted in the Glasgow Area. (Curious to know if it can be done and how much)

Many thanks

You dont really need anymore than 8gb of ram for a gaming rig, an the samsung evo 256gb ssds are solid choices for ssds at the mo

Hey OC3D Family,

"I need help from Pro Fulltime Geek folk"

I resent that comment! We are "Uber keep fit tech Nerds" not geeks.

You could just strip your case down to bare minimum and spray yourself it's not that difficult and you'd get a greater degree of satisfaction I also happen to agree the Samsung Evos are a rock solid choice SSDs.

I agree with the RAM, most games don't even use 4GB at this point in time and it's so easy to upgrade anyway. Gives you a bit more money to spend as well.

Would personally also not get an Aerocool case. I know some people who've had them and I've done a build in one. I must admit they offer nice spec for the money, but the quality was quite bad. Fan controller knobs just fell off, cables didn't fit through grommets, side panel mesh was poorly attached and fell off when pushed, etc.

Would recommend something from Fractal Design (Arc Midi R2), Corsair (750D), NZXT (Switch 810/ Phantom 820/630/530) or Nanoxia (DS2). But it is your choice after all :)

The Sabertooth is a very good looking board, but for the money you might just as well get an MSI GD-65 Gaming or the Gigabyte G1 Sniper M5. They feature better on-board audio and also a "better" ethernet solution. They are kind of aimed at gaming and will definitely serve you well.

I second Wraith on the recommendation of the Samsung Evo drives. They are fairly cheap but do offer quite a lot of performance. If you can spend more money, the Samsung 840 Pros would be good too. To be honest though, you can't go wrong with brands like Intel, Crucial or Kingston either.

Lastly, if you can miss the money, I'd step it up to a Corsair AX860 (if you want to go CrossfireX, otherwise an AX760 will already be overkill). There's nothing wrong with the HX series but they are a tad old by now and, if I remember correctly, not fully modular. The AX series are 80+ Platinum, fully modular and very reliable as they are rebrands from Seasonic units.

You don't need the AXi series, they just cost more and support Corsair link which isn't reaaaally good for anything. They are also manufactured by a different OEM.
