My New project..

What are the things between the large copper sheets that the 22mm piping is connecting up to ?

sw

those are old busted hard disks, I use them to make sure everything is aligned properly, tubing is 15mm so 1/2 inch tygon goes over nicely..

5 mins with steel wool & solder flux followed by quick rinse under shower..

Once it dries completely, Ill spray it matt black & its ready to go in case..

btw, received my new res etc this morning so can complete the build over the next day or two..

shiny sink

I'll have to try a few minutes under the shower! mcmad - what dya reckon is the effectiveness of this watercooling or does it mainly look nice? Good to see you used Yorkshire fittings !

it looks parp matey, lol, but I dont care..

main thing is this block is gonna be covered in sound proofing, drives will have sound proofing between them & there will be no fans near them so they run the serious risk of overheating without the water cooling.

The 15mm tubing has little impact on flows & temps will be good. I use a 2 disk version in my current setup, (http://extremeprometeia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33 , bottom right) & as you can see temps are very stable at 4 degrees above case air temps, should be at least as good this time round as Ive used thinner sides this time round (2mm instead of 3mm).

Im hoping the fact the cpu is out of the loop will compensate for using a smaller rad this time.

It would be a big risk not having the cooling with all the sound proofing & it only costs around 20 quid to knock up & even someone as bad as me with a blowtorch can make it :D

nice work there m8t...

I am trying to find a 120mm hole cutter.. Any ideas. Tried B&Q and the biggest they had as 70mm..

Also I would like some advise on case modding like whats best used for cutting stright lines in the side your case or prommie side panel. Also where is the best place to get the mounting points, windows and stuff from.

I know they are out there but I dont seem to be looking in the right place..

I'll be doing some guides over the next week mate, got a week off work. Maybe speak to Phil about putting together some links for modding stuff, dont want to link to competitors (even though they aint any competition ;) ) . I'm sure between us all we could put together a pretty good sticky of guides & links..

Im sure we could cover the very basics, tools, cutting lines & holes, tidying up, soundproofing, water cooling basics / circuits for flow switches, relays etc, case tidying etc etc.

Superb idea mate, that would be great. A resource to beat all others :)

Coolin'

so what is the watercooling up top gonna be cooling exactly?
his credit card? Seroisly though, looking great - will it be as visually appealin once its all wrapped in soundproofing ? Just seems a waste!

lol

water cooling is currently cooling the 9800XT, the hard drive cooler & the north bridge, I was going to go for a smaller setup, but after reading about the new gfx cards coming out I think Ill stick with 1/2 inch overkill system (damm new gpu's are gonna be like another cpu in there power wise), res & rad are new, rest from my previous build..

only problem I have is what to do with the cascade block I was using before.. just cant bring myself to sell it.

the soundproofing will basically cover all the internal Ali, & final build will look a lot neater/cleaner. Got a spare cm side window from a 201 I could use if it looks decent enough.

next week will be spent finsihing it off hopefully, ready to get front made.

waiting on the mach II GT mate, Ive done a few buts & bobs to the case but thats the main thing delaying me at the mo.. I dont want to get front panel made until Ive got everything in & I can double check measurements..
