more to follow...

thats going to be pretty awesome - can't wait to see how it turns out.

small update,

2 damm days on this !

back.JPG

Back panel for prommie side of the cube.

2mm Alu & brushed to blend in with cm brushing (looks better in RL)..

2 frickin days thats taken me, lol.. Although I have to say, best damm 120mm blowholes Ive ever cut, could get away without any trim on em.

working on HD water cooler now,

all framing etc is completed, waiting on smaller res & rad then I can start building. Not going to use my 120.3 rad any more, overkill for GPU, NB & HD, will use a 120.1 instead.

going to completely build up then re-check & double check my dimensions for the front panel, cut outs etc. before sending order to machining shop...

That looks totally awesome mate - I cant wait to see the results of your hard work - I've spent a couple of hours today cutting my top panel - the first one went totally wrong - damn my holesaw.. lol and the second one started out better then my power drill blew up. lol.. Literally. smoke started to appear - so I had to finish off with the dremel - jeez, you ever cut a circle with the dremel? It's not a bad cut considering, and I filed it down a little with wet and dry, but I will still have to trim it with rubber I think before placing the grill. God damn holesaws.. It's a real game - I might actually remove the service from my website - it's such a time consuming job its hardly worth the effort.

lol, yup Ive done the dremel hole thing m8, never again..

Ouch at losing your drill though

Those starrett hole saws are pretty good, got smaller teeth that most which seems to help a bit, just gotta keep stopping to clean the teeth & it goes ok.

Oh & get a very very powerfull drill.

I defo wouldn't offer a service cutting them though, bloomin nightmare having to do em frequently..

Misses has just walked in, looked at what Ive been doing last two days, laughed & walked out again..

:(

hehe.. My wife is actually very impressed with my work - it's nice that she's so supportive.

How powerful would you recommend? I spent over £100 on this 18v manins powered drill from Bosch, and it's bloody awful. It feels lame, it cuts appaulingly im my eyes, yet according to the bumpf it is the most powerful drill you can buy at the store??

Here's my effort, that took me the best part of two hours with a holesaw and dremel. I'm going to get it anodised and then trim it with rubber, and stick a laser grill over the top, so it should be fine.

hehe, my misses kinda gives me the patronising pat on the head, like I was frickin 8 or something, lol..

Anyway.

Drill I use is a black & decker corded 1000W job (KR1000K) http://diytools.com/store/detail.asp?productid=62524

we have an B&D outlet store nearby so cost 60 quid from there

Edit, that hole aint too bad considering you had to use a dremel as well m8..

Edit 2, LL cases should be easy enough to cut m8, 1.2mm if I remember right, mine went through it like butter when i did the cutouts for my 120.3. This damm sheet stuff I got is 2mm, a bit tougher, but got there with plenty of cooling fluids. Try a decent drill & a starrett hole cutter..

Bah, guys where is your style? Cmon you know wood looks soooo good

Just in case you did not see my other thread:

nice work mate...i know little things may look easy but are actually a pain to do...

personally it took me a long time to cut my ATCS 201 for my evap head to go through my case...that coolermaster aluminium is thick man...and i was using the B&D wisard tool

actually for the big cuts I found some decent jigsaw baldes.. funnily enough the ones meant for Alu are crap, the ones for copper cut Alu sheet much better.

Bosch do a nice 24v battery drill SDS , get the chuck adaptor, it drills everything for me , also takes 20 mins to charge. My holes are normally not that big though round 60 mm,I think Get starrett holecutters there the best, But not the cheapist.

I would recommend a corded drill for blowholes, min 1000W & it will get through anything & no hassles with charging batteries. I use a battery drill for small screw holes etc as its light & quite handy, but for big blowholes corded every time.

this is turning into a power tool boasting session! I also rate Starrett hole saws. I've done a 12mm dia hole thru 7mm steel (8 times) plus holes in plaster board to 83mm (watch out for joists) and thru wooden floors - never gone to 120mm though. I always use a corded drill- I've got a pneumatic German one - its an overkill for cases, but it did a 12mm dia hole thru about 30cm of concrete no problem - which will be useful when I make that case from bricks and cement!

reet, HD water cooler has been done, looks rough now but will be lubely when finished

hdrough.JPG

Will be cleaned up then sprayed matt black like my old one..

Lots of peeps ask if HD's really need water cooled, mine will.. 4 drives with sound proffing of an inch or two thick round em & no fans means they get very very hot.. Silence is as important as performance for me, cant stand noisy pc's.

will post another pic when its cleaned up but this pic shows how its made, pretty simple but effective.
