They call it smoked plexi/acrylic. You can get black acrylic also witch you cant see trough.

I need to do the last toutch on these acrylic cut outs. Need to make nicer edges and also sand the edges and using a heatgun for non icy look. January is a nice time for that kinda thing

nice technique, do you just melt the rough bits a little?

Had my last nightshift tonight and i start my x-mass holliday now. Me, gf and our daughter are celebrating this nice time of year with my parents in law. Getting back home again in the start of the new year. Just wanted to wish all of you that follows my project a merry christmas and a happy new year.

I didnt get the UD5 x79 under the three, so im free to choose for SB-E, IB or even IB-E. I might just get a cheap temporarly solution with my 2500k and get the IB-E when it is released. thinking about the UD4 or Asus pro

Edit_ Sorry about bad spelling. Had to mutch to drink today, hohoh :.)

Il decide what to do this christmas, and im sorry for being ambivalent. I just dont wanna spend 750£ on a system thats only gonna be top notch for 3-12 months. IB-E is actually screaming to me, low power, moreperformance, and probably better oc headroom.

God i love this time of year. I hope you all are having a good time with someone you care about. Take care and see you soon-

Bloody hell I had some catching up to do.

Right, few tips.

1. To remove the stickers from a GPU use a hair dryer. Heat them, then they will peel.

As soon as they are off use white spirit to remove the backing, it will just wipe off.

DO NOT SAND plastic. It makes it go furry, and releases chemicals that will screw the paint. Use a plastic primer like Plasticote.

2. For gawd sake dude, sand the holes you cut with the holesaw !

Get some P600 and sand inside the holes. Just be careful not to slip as you will scratch the surface.

If you read my logg you would know that the acrylic cut outs isnt completely done. I have said that i will sand and heat the cuts.

And i did use plastic primer on the shreds. Also, they didnt get furry by sanding them lightly with extra fine sanding paper.

Removing all that glue from the shreds was ok once i had the right chemicals to do it. However if i ever do soemthing like that again i will try your tip with the use of a heatgun.

No gawd don't use a heatgun

You'll end up with a puddle

Hairdryer man. What it does is soften up the adhesive and allow you to just peel the sticker away

Unless of course they're like Sapphire who use bloody superglue to hold the stickers on.

Forgive me for not reading it all. There have been 12 pages since I last looked at it dude. Whilst I'm not the busiest person on the planet at the moment I didn't have two hours to read every last word

Gotta say I am totally in the dark as to where you are heading to with it, but that's cool. Have left myself some surprises

Love the fact you have used wood. I saw this mod some dude did a couple of years back and he made a 1920s radio called Ingraham. Was amazing !

It was good with a small break from all the modding, but today i felt the itch again. Think i got motivated by watching some water cooling vids on youtube yesterday

. I have started with the housing this morning. Its been meassured, cut and ive also filed down some rough edges. Further today, im going to make the backside of the housing where the psu, mb and 2-3 fans will be.

The lenght of the housing will be 154cm and the depht is 60cm.

More to come.

Im trying to visualize how i want the inside to be like. Also i like a few options for good airflow if i want to get a few gpu's non watercooled.

I think it will be something like this:

Think i will make cut outs for this placement of the components. I get two 120mm fans on left side and one 140mm on right side.

DSC01766.jpg

Edit: i wont use a 140mm on right side. No need for it.

Made the cut out for the psu:

Was a bit unlucky with the horizontal cut, but il file it down some. The joy of using handforce and non electrical equipment

The psu fitted nicely into the cut out.

The cut out for the 240mm radgrill is done. the grill with fans fited like a glow
