Mushkin Chronos Slow

Hey everyone,

My new system is finally running and running well!

There is just one last issue I'm having and it's an annoying one.

My SSD is only getting a seq. reading of 200MB/s, and Seq. write of 180MB/s and the quoted is a max of 550MB/s read and 515MB/s write.

Now these maybe maximums but I've seen many people saying that the drives are as good as Corsair Force 3's and that they

reach and sometimes exceed the quoted maximums. I've tried SSD tweak which made no difference. I have of course disables disk defrag and the drive isn't very old at all.

The only reason I'm even bothered is because for £15 more I could have had a Corsair Force 3 which seem to get very close to the quotes maximums.

Any tips? Thanks, Ryan

firmware.... isntalled with achi mode?? and are ya on the sata 6GB/sec ports??? I'm guessing you got your bios issue fixed then I must of missed the post.

I posted back BIOS issue fixed thanks for the help and info. I'm using intel 6GB/s ports and 6GB/S cables. Tried updating but kept failing as it was the latest version of the firmware. SATA ACHI mode enabled in UEFI. Got no clue why it's running this slow.Chipset drivers installed and Intel Rapid storage.

IRST wont do ya anything unless its being used a a cache drive. What program are ya using to see the speeds??

Are you using 0Fill (highly compressible) data setting? If you are using incompressible data then your results can be much lower. Have you tried ATTO?

There is he ATTO Benchmark result which seems normal to me. So why is Crystal Disk Mark saying that its only getting a max of 200MB/s seq read and 180MB/s seq write.

The results look normal to me. SandForce based SSDs use compression to gain a lot of speed, so using incompressible data isn't handled as well. Crystal Disk Mark by default uses incompressible data.

Here's a link that explains it better than I can.
