MSI GD55 bios trouble

NeverBackDown

AMD Enthusiast
So when go download any of the new updated versions from the MSI website for their bios and after i extract the zip folder, it tells me i have an incompatible system and need to check if i am running 32bit/64bit OS(i have 64bit).

So has anyone else have trouble with this? I have not deleted the previous driver for the motherboard yet so could this be the reason? I was going to delete the barebones one(the one installed) after i updated mine to V1.9

Any advice?

So how are you trying to update it? After you extract the .zip file from MSI's website you need to place the BIOS file on a FAT-32 format flash drive. At least, that's how I recommend doing such updates.
BIOS updates are seldom done from within the OS, so I don't understand why you're getting any such warnings.

So i am supposed to do it from within the bios? They have a "live update" feature inside the bios so i assume i do it from their?

I tend to stick away from such things, but as such I have little experience with how they work.
All I do is put the BIOS file on a correctly formatted flash drive, enter the UEFI and go to M-Flash. From there follow the instructions and locate the new BIOS on the drive.

Well i flashed it following the MSI websites instructions... HUGE mistake after a full reinstall(literally) and trying to get everything back, i am still stuck with an older bios. Weird because it was just doing its thing then next thing i knew computer goes crazy and freezes.

I am only doing this so i can OC the cpu but seems to not want to very much.

Thanks for the thread help, but for some odd reason(have not flashed yet) Whenever i go into the bios i can not get back into windows and have to redo all the boot orders everytime. I eventually get in but do you know why this would happen?

either sounds like an incomplete BIOS or something is writing to BIOS to a default.
kinda like having the default SATA on AHCI and something is resetting to IDE or RAID.
stuck/flackie F5 key or a USB keyboard malfunction..

by default is LIVE Update on? I don't have my MSI on the test bench...

Live update is not installed on my pc. I have bios version 1.9 that i changed from 1.6. Ever since i updated i have had this problem and i noticed my pc is ever so slightly slower ever since.
AHCI and TRIM are enabled.
