Monster Addiction

Ever since my first sip of Monster Energy back in 2004, I was hooked.

Well... it didn't start to get bad until I started going to University. Late nights studying.

Then I finished and Monsters were still a part of my life.

Too much.

I laid off the Monsters for a few months, and was fine... until I saw the mother of all deals!

2 for $3

From there on out I think I have had up to 2 per day and as little as 3 per week.

And then more deals of 2 large cans for $6.

No cavities and still as fit as a fiddle.

But my problem now is this: I don't feel completely awake until I've had one, and I get headaches as well (from caffeine withdrawals). When I don't have those symptoms, I usually just dream of drinking one... and when I have a sip its like... its like... "AHHHHHH, so good."

Besides the fact that I could have several SUPER computers with the money I have spent on those... I just want to be able to ignore their sweet golden juice for a few months and not crave them.

Any suggestions?

Caffeine is hard on your body. The more you drink, the more you need. Heavy caffeine drinkers actually need caffeine in the morning just to get to a normal level of a person who doesn't drink caffeine. My vice is Mountain Dew. In high school and early college there were days when I'd drink a 12 pack. I gave it up completely for about a year, but came back to it...the life of an addict. Now I limit myself to one or two cans a day and nothing after 3PM. /pops open a can

Energy drink are worse, especially with alcohol. You really should limit yourself, treat yourself once a week. Do it slowly though. Like any addiction you need to ween yourself slowly otherwise it will be more difficult.

I love them, but the last 2 I had gave me an immense pain in my neck, ear and head. My head was bangin and I felt sick from the pain, not knowing what was the cause, the next day I woke up all refreshed, had another one the next day... and boom pain... not had one since and no pain

. Guess my days of drinks like that are over.

That's why ppl shouldn't drink this stuff. Go get something healthier to fill up that gap instead. Orange juice for example is great.

<3 Orange juice, only problem is I will just drink and drink it, until I either get constipated or the opposite lol.

Sounds like something you'd see in Dead Rising.

It's difficult to learn how to control, but you have to push yourself to do it, otherwise in the end you're just hurting your own health. You may not see it today, but when you're in your 40s and 50s you'll start to see the side effects from your younger years. There's always other alternatives to these strong caffeinated 'power' drinks. Better yet, buy some fruits and freeze them; you could bring out the blender and make a great smoothie. That'll surely keep you awake.

I was in salt lake city on holidays a few years back and im telling you. I was the step above wired. I was vibratibing so fast i phased through the car seat. And turned into kip from napolen dynamite. That day i had 2 large bookoos 2 large monsters the green a nos 2 jones apple soda and 2 litres of the dew. Needless to say the next day i thought i had died. And by next day i mean the day after the next day as sleepig was out of the question

i like those monster drinks. I sometimes get some of those when im tired and omw to nightshift. Everything you drink and eat should be in a balanced diet. Orange juice can be lethal for your health if you drink to mutch. Think i heard that you could have kidney failure/high bloodpressure if you drink to mutch.

Slowly decrease your intake and eventually you should be able to stop. Stopping in one go is pretty hard when your addicted to something.

So this is an intervention then

Exactly. Habits can't be stopped in one take; you have to gradually do it in steps at a time. Too much of anything is bad.

Monster to you is like cokecola to me. Through uni (especially the days/nights I had a deadline for the next day) id buy about 5-6 cans down my local home bargains (30p a can...!!!!) and I was severely hooked on it! The sugar and caffeine just took over me.

Then it was getting bad when I thought I couldn't live the day without at least tasting coke. The only thing that prevents me from drinking it is that it really upsets my stomach, to the point where I get horrific cramps in the middle of the night and I can't sleep... I think having a bad experience with it makes me less prone to going out and buying the stuff, merely for what it does to me.

My antidote is to get a water bottle (like the sports ones) and fill it up with water. And whenever you have a craving, just drink from it until your thirst is at least quenched. Water is by far the heatlthiest drink (more than orange juice - as it can still upset your stomach if drunk too much due to the acids) and if you want to be healthier, get a filter for it so it removes the lime scale from the water from the tap

You can't drink too much Orange juice either. Full of sugar and pure carbs.

I just like you've kept all those cans in perfect condition.

Also that you don't neglect any of the flavours.

Self Squeezed Orange juice would be awesome, but who has the time hey
