Ok guys, got my psu and case today. Got the processor a few days ago. Awaiting the mobo and hd.

I have put the case and psu together. Monitor my progress through images at www.rers.com/PC

Am I going well :)

If you want to review the parts that will be going into it please do so here: http://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=11882

Please, PLEASE Post your opinions on the mobo, a I need to know if I should use it or send it back...

Also can I start my PC without a Video card as that isnt coming until firday :( Stupid ebuyer.

Thanks

Tom

seems ok so far lol.

but you probably will have to take the backplate of the case out and fit it with the one that comes with the motherboard, as that one most probably wont fit.

and you might be able to start your PC, but obviously it wont work properly if you cant see anything! infact, im not actually sure a pc will post without a gfx card, but somebody more informed than me will be able to answer that.

good luck with the build.

If I were buying today I`d get an Abit IP35 tbh. Both by personal choice and from recommendations.

Great bold yellow case ;)

Something that personally bugs me is when the psu is a different color to the case frame. I mean it isn`t gonna effect anything or whatever, it`s just I know it`s there and when I look at the back I`ll notice it again ! arrggh ! lol

EDIT: home/office pc based mobos won`t post without anything to post on.

Ok,

I have the gigabyte.

I suppose I am just sitting here hoping someone will say the gigabyte mobo is sweet, especially for what you need it for Tom :)

(but dont lie)

So everyone says the abit is much better, but it is also £40 more. What features does it have that makes it worth that extra £££

Is it worth sending back, and getting the abit? It got the best budget mobo award on a review I read...

Well tbh as long as the Gigabyte works: it's a half decent overclocker and probably has everything you need

Thats what I want to hear :)

Really what I was curious about and have not really got an answer fo is the fact that at least 3 people have uggested I get the abit ip35 instead.

I looked up a site which had reviews of both and:

http://www.cpu3d.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1501&Itemid=52&limit=1

http://www.cpu3d.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1700&Itemid=2&limit=1

They both got the same score but my one got the budget award. I am on a budget so surely I made the right choice.

I dont understand why people are suggesting the abt. Why is it better?

Thanks

I have the Abit and it is without doubt the most solid Intel Core2Duo based motherboard I have used. Excellent overclocking, awesome layout, great support, decent speed and excellent features add up to a winner tbh

Well I apreciate that the abit is a very good board. Have you also tested the gigabyte?

Basically my point is if they both get 88% surely they are equally good :)

The effort I would have to go to to get the abit makes me not want to change the mobo, however if it is definately worth it I will.

The only downside to the gigabyte that I can find is that it cant do crossfire. Anything else?

Could someone give me a super detailed, super concluive write up of what should do because atm I really want to rip open my gigabyte mobo and get it set up :D

Thanks
