Sup peeps,

Having recently got a SSD, i started thinking if i installed motherboard drivers previously, I don't remember installing them so i want know if i should? Doesn't Windows 7 install them automatically or are they just basic drivers?

I navigated on the Asus website, and the only drivers applicable to me were the chipset and sound

Mobo is a Rampage II Extreme btw

I'm pretty sure Windows 7 installs basic drivers, but some you might have to hunt down. When I did my last fresh install of Windows 7 I was lucky enough to have the disk on hand, but the only driver I needed to install were the sound driver and gigabit port driver. http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Rampage+II+Extreme&p=1&os=17 click the downloads tab and that should have all the drivers you need. (lan, audio, chipset, sata.) And any others you might want/need.

After doing installing Win 7, i saw in device manager that i only needed the chipset and audio, Ethernet drivers were done automatically. No issues so far

Windows 7 often doesn't pick up USB 3 drivers but apart from that it should have some basic drivers to at least get it all working, and some motherboards come with their own SSD drivers on a CD
