My girlfriends birthday is due so I thought about building her a pc to play thoose MMO games and alot of thoose free2play games as far as I kno the most graphical demanding game she is playing at this time is world of warcraft and lord of the rings online I kno she is wanting diablo 3.

I did a some research but there seems to be alot of arguing about theese type of games being either cpu or gpu bound,

Parts I already have

Asus P8H61-I Intel H61 itx

2x4gb g.skill ripjaw 1333Hz RAM Speed, CAS 9-9-9-24 Timings, 1.5 -1.65v

I have aload of perfect hardrives in both sizes and mostly all in 7200rpm

so this just leaves cpu and gpu really.

I want my pc back

....I should note her pc is only for gaming MMO nothing else she has a mac book air with a i7

Budget? I would get something like a i3-2100. I don't know about what kind of GPU would be sufficient tho.

Cpu: 2500k. I dont know how well that itx board oc, but its good for its performance and resale potensial. You could go for a bit cheaper I5 also. That might save you 20-25£

For gpu i would get a 560 or a 560Ti with 1280/2000mb of memory.

Btw, whats your budget on this?

I would imagine that Diablo III would be reasonably demanding and I know that lotro can be quite demanding on high settings.

I would recommend a 560ti or for value for money, a 6950. Some might say it's a overkill but I can only imagine that MMOs will get more demanding so it would be a wise choice IMO.

No need for a 2500k on an H61 board...

I said you could chose a 2500k for its speed and for its resale potential, and that the costs of the I5 is very similar overall, so you dont save mutch from buying the cheapest I5 to the 2500k. Dont even start trolling dude.......

Yup, this is pretty much what you should be aiming for. A 560 Ti and a 2500K combo will have more than enough punch to run the games your gf plays.

Not on a H61 AFAIK. If you go for a 2500k, atleast get a Maximus Gene-z, but that's mATX. I suggest that you get the i3-2100, unless you absolutely need a quad core.

I also suggest the i3 2100 along with a gtx 550ti or a gtx 560ti depending on the settings she's planning on running and how much you like her =P. I'm currently running a g620 with a gtx 470. If the beta for Diablo 3 is anything to go by, then my system doesn't even give a care about it. Runs it flawlessly with room to spare. For WoW I'm not 100% sure because I haven't logged on for a very long time, but I remember playing it on my laptop with high settings. So I would imagine it would also run that perfectly. The only games that give me trouble are ones that are very cpu intensive. For example, Vindictus runs fine on my system, but I have to knock some of the cpu intensive settings down a notch even then it struggles a bit. That's why I'm suggesting the i3 2100 as it will cover any game that's like that fairly well without a high price.

Did you already factor in the psu, case, and os?

What is it with people and as soon as somebody disagrees wit htheir opinion, you are branded a troll?

I think there's limited capability? Not 100% sure but once you have a good chip you could upgrade mobo if you have some spare cash?

Cheers for the reply guys, oki no budget really, monitor I'll be picking up a 22inch full hd..

I can pick up a gtx 550 ti for about £90 or a 6850 for £107....no overclocking.

Would be nice to get games at running at 60fps on medium to high settings.

Even though I'm buying a 22inch 1080p monitor she's doesn't care if the games are not running at the full 1080
