Mmm...laptop + compressed air = 30*c less!

I figured my laptop was a little toasty whilst Folding so a teeny tiny spray of compressed air and we have temps nearly 30*c lower. :D

Anyone else having to give their hardware the ol' summer clean to keep temps down?

yup think its time to take the folder down for some cleaning the things like a bloody dust magnet! more or less every 4 weeks its needing a gutting

I've left the back off my laptop. :D It's on a stand so it's totally protected but it's helping with temps!

I don't think so...

i7 - nope

E2180 - In a case but a the Raptor HDD is just hanging. lol

Abit nF7-S rig in an UGGS shoe box. :D

I'm sure there is more...

I probably need to do the same to my i7 rig. The room it's in is being remodeled. Just finished the drywall and it's a little dusty. I'll probably be painting next week then I'll start building a new desk. I think when I move everything I'll give the PC a good cleaning. My 470 has been hitting 80C lately while folding.

ha ha redecorating around your folding i like your style blah! can you build me a new desk? :p wish i was DIY capable i just half ass it

I cleaned my 8800 the other day and it was nasty. The temps are still really high. 84c full load can't be right for a card running at stock. I even re-applied thermal paste and that didn't help at all.

It worries me so I might need to consider rmaing it. :(

Nice Charlie , lappy's and Folding is Hot stuff !

Folded for a week on a laptop then sold it for a GTX260 :D

I think that's just because it's a single slot cooler. :(

i have a sparkle 8800gt that loads at 55 a leatech that does 61 and a gigabyte that does 66 but my 8800gt in my main rig sits at 87 cause of all the other cards

EDIT: the last one thats 87 is a double slot with a zalman cooler firs 3 are singles

try running at 80% for a while mate i usually run mines all at 80%+ all the time

Brought the temps to about 78c. While it's better i'm still not a big fan of that. I'm going to mess with a few things and see what I can do to try and get it to come down a bit more.

I havent tried that yet, but I probably should. I had this problem on my old rig to. Same placement of the chipset, idk why it's always placed right there. Kind of dumb if you ask me.

I sprayed an air duster through my 4870X2 the other day and the amount of crap that came out of it was pretty grot.

Didn't make that much difference to temps though. Just a degree or two.

Sometimes that 1-2*c can be all that it takes to be unstable. :(

My i7, @ 4.5GHz, below 60*c needs only 1.36v, above 60*c needs 1.45v+...Folding@Home, Linpack (LinX), Prime95 x64...
