Mitch's Phantom - First Rig Gallery

Good day readers of OC3D!

I haven't previously done this, however I've finally come to a point where I'm somewhat satisfied to share my build.

All my previous rigs to my current one were bits n' bobs thrown together by my brother, and I upgraded them myself over time. A few years ago I finally went ahead and bought myself a (near) full system of my own accord.

I'm currently not in education or work due to various circumstances which makes affording pieces of hardware somewhat difficult & frustrating, but that's almost part of the joy for me, for when I finally do get an upgrade I hella' appreciate it.

Rig Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 760 @ 3.81 GHz on air
CPU CLR: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK Premium Edition Black
MOBO: Asus P7P55D-E LX
RAM/Memory: Corsair XMS3 4x2GB@1600MHz [8GB]
GPU: MSI 7870 "Black Knight" @ 1120 GPU Clock | 1250 MEM Clock (in the middle of fine tuning)
Sound Card: Creative X-Fi Xtremegamer (Not 100% on this, got it as a freebie without box)
HDD(s): 1x Samsung Spinpoint F3 | 1x Seagate 2TB Barracuda 7
PSU: Corsair TX650M
Case: NZXT Phanton Enthusiast w/ USB3.0 Front + Custom side window

Other Specs/Gear:

Case Fans:
2x NZXT 200m Blue @ TOP
1x NZXT 140m @ REAR/TOP
1x Xigmatek Crystal 120m Blue @ FRONT LOWER
Lights/LEDs: NZXT White 200cm strip + blue LED fans.
Keyboard: Saitek Eclipse 3 Office Keyboard & Razer Nostromo Keypad
Mouse: Razer Deathadder (6-7 years old, still alive!) & Razer eXactMat Xspeed
Headphones: GHS1 White w/ Grey/Green contrast

Welcome to my desk space. I'm working on hiding wires over the next few weekends.

One of my first pictures after the side panel was installed.

Working on tidying up the inside a little, but this was satisfactory for now... And don't worry! I made sure those CPU fan wires don't touch the top fans, even after the case has been shook a little.

The mysterious sound card.. Also that GPU needs a little clean ;)

And finally a shot of my mouse that's been serving me since near-ish it's release date.

Hope you enjoyed checking out my rig, It's mostly you guys who have inspired me to tidy up and upgrade my rig to what it currently is, hopefully I'll reach a pristine standard like what I have seen around here ;)

I'll be happy to answer any questions.

Cheers,
Coxey / Mitch.

No pictures showing up mate. How did you post them. You need to use a hosting site, like Imgur, or Photobucket

Welcome to :oc3d: :).

Nice setup dude. Just one little nitpick, if I may.

I'd look into routing (what I'm assuming is) the 8 pin CPU cable behind the mobo tray and out through the top of the backplate cut-out. That would look a lot cleaner that running it up the side, IMO. And if you can fit it, I'd do the same with the CPU cooler phan cables (see what I did there? ;)), and put all the cables coming out of the PSU through the same hole at the bottom. Other than those small little nitpicky things, it looks nicely done. Also, the pictures show up fine for me,.

I also have a 1st gen Deathadder, and wouldn't trade it for anything. Best mouse I've ever used, hands down.

:nopity:

Yeah we share the same nitpicks, I'm planning on doing some rerouting eventually, just modding planning a mod for my desk, so I can have the computer on my desk rather than on the ground.

IIRC - the reason for the 8 pin power was because it didn't reach and/or fit through provided gap. (More than likely the reach option)

As for the PSU cables, I didn't notice that they weren't all going through the same hole..

Thanks for the welcome ;)

Ah i see them now. Looks nice and clean, one little thing, whats going on with the coolers, 2 fan cables ? Why do white builds always look cleaner than black ?

I presume you mean the CPU cooler fans, the two thick white wires join into a splitter, which then joins into a PWM adapter which plugs into the CPU fan socket on the mobo. Well at least that's how I have it for now.. I'm planning to reroute them elsewhere somehow.

As for white builds looking clean.. Not sure, perhaps you can see less dust? I really liked the idea of a white build for it's cleanliness.

Nice work, mate! Once you've cleaned up those small nitpicks this will not only be very
nice but rather brilliant imho. Very clean.

As for the white rigs thing: It may be that since cables are usually dark you see them
a lot better in white rigs, therefore people spend extra time making it tidier. But that's
just some late-evening conjecture
