Midnight Smurf: Watercooled Edition

Yeah I totally agree that it is very easy to overdo the carbon, I tried to use it in moderation just as an accent piece, and I think it came out looking pretty nice.

have to agree to much carbon fibre on everything prob retaining heat on your components other than that ok
No it will make no change to your temps mate.
Well as long as you are not stupid to put it on the heatsink or backplate etc.

As you can see I covered up the EK Link with carbon and I think I'm gonna keep it, you can still see the coolant in the side but there isn't as much acrylic seen to clash as much.

Very nice, clean, sleek build there, well done! Although a straight SLi bridge would improve the aesthetics in my opinion.

Very nice rig =)

I'm not so sure I like the carbon on the EK SLI Bridge, but everything else looks absolutely gorgeous. Job well done!

turned out really nice m8! Wasn't too keen on the di-noc'd EK bridge but it grew on me, and I see why you did that.

ONLY gripe I would have is the placement of that SSD, but that's just me. Otherwise it looks well sorted!

Joined the delid club today and couldn't be happier I did :D

Delidding wasn't that hard, what had me most nervous was how close together the PCB and IHS were, I though I'd have a little more wiggle room for the blade. I powered through it and once everything was separated, it didn't look like there were any nicks.

Forgot to take any more pictures, but after that I cleaned up the thermal paste and used my fingernail to scratch off the adhesive. Then I used CLU on the die and the IHS. Everything booted up no problem, was sweating bullets when I pressed the power button. Now I'm running a 4.8GHz overclock up from 4.6, and my temps are 10-15C lower than they were before. I'm very happy with the results, totally worth it if you have an Ivy Bridge CPU and some big cahones!
