Wish we could get actual Halo games on PC.

Graphically they are screaming out for high res, 60+FPS, Increased FOV, High res textures etc....

MS could even make it a Windows store and Windows 10 exclusive and I bet it wouldn't impact their XB1 sales, It would just bring more customers in that don't buy consoles.

It would also mean that they would have to be on Windows 10... Which I'm not for example.

But A LOT of people are and going by the Steam hardware survey as an example most gamers are now on Windows 10 with more and more making the jump everyday.

Companies can't keep catering to the declining numbers of older OS users as that just holds things back.

Eventually when DX12 becomes the mainstream API people will have to go to Windows 10 anyway, Apart from nostalgic purposes I don't see the point in staying on an old OS, Maybe if you're running a business with software that flat out can't run on W10 then yeah ok but I can't understand the average user/gamer refusing to move forward onto superior software.

Get with the times then. You want Halo on PC it'll be W10 only, if you refuse to get on W10 well that's your fault tbh. They won't cater to you, MS will promote W10 as much as possible

Sounds good. I'm already on Windows 10 and would happily pay to get the entire Halo franchise on PC. We're even getting Forza so I'm actually pretty happy with where this all heading. Now where's my Crimson Skies reboot?

Well I tried Windows 10 and did not like it... Experienced a lot of stuff that didn't work properly.

And not that I cater for them in any way or any of their products either really... So to me this has no value nor I couldn't care any less than I already am :)

Big halo fan so I'm hoping they release 3, 4 and 5 on PC they gave us 1 and 2 and I still have no idea why they stopped really

Microsoft were annoyed that they could not get double profits from PC games. What I mean is, when they make a game for PC they sell it. When some one makes a game for a console M$ charge a licensing fee. They could not do that with Windows, that's why they made the original Xbox.

As such they stopped releasing their own titles for the PC pretty much over night to entice people onto their console.

However, as of late the console market has been floundering somewhat so they've gone back to the PC because it's another payday.

Yeah I guess previously bungee were making all the money from the first 2 games but now microsoft have bought the rights to halo and have thier own dev teams they make the profit.

Didnt think of that, I hope they do a master chief collection for PC

It's a shame, because I absolutely loved Microsoft's games circa 1999 and before. I still have all mine (Motocross Mania 1&2, Midtown Madness 1&2 etc) and then all of a sudden they stop releasing for PC :(

They would make more from actually selling thegame on PC. They don't make much from royalties. Where the biggest difference comes from is that they end up making a little more if someone else makes it since that means they don't have the operating costs that comes with creating a modern game.

$15 a game sold.

Got evidence of that? Because it was 10% royalty fee for the longest time. So was $6 per game for the standard $60

I read about it when the original Xbox came out. That was why the games were $60. It was the same for the PSX too. Back then a $60 Xbox game was $20 in the U.S for PC, if it came out for the PC. Was the same for the 360 too.

That was why Microsoft entered the console market, because they could not charge any fees in Windows (they tried but got sued IIRC).

So they withdrew nearly all of their PC games since then and have encouraged devs not to release for the PC. However, since Alan Wake things have really picked up in PC gaming, because the devs have realised it's a second payday and one far higher than they thought it would be. IIRC Alan Wake made $4m the first day.

It's changing now though. Maybe the fees are less now than they were? I don't know. Doesn't take much working out that charging $60 for a PC game (which pretty much every one is doing now) must net some huge profits, hence why PC gaming has picked up recently.

Thank god for key sites, or tbh I would not be gaming any more. I'm not paying $60 for a game that probably doesn't even work properly.
