I looked for this and all i got was that Microsoft is supposed to be putting TV on your 360. Seriously folks whats the point of TV on a 360 when you can turn it off and watch TV? Since you said that, i guess its not that bad. Just buy a TV tuner card though and problem solved or go to the many online TV sites.

Not too sure whats it's like in the US, but the tv spectrum in the UK is overloaded, Freeview has maybe 1 or 2 slots left. If IPTV was mainstream then we would have the choice of unlimited channels. Give it 20 years and i bet this (tv over network/internet) will be the only viable way to get tv.

EDIT: pretty much what kemp said :p

Microsoft will have deals with major networks that regular online TV doesn't have, thereby making it much nicer. Also, it's convenient to get it directly from your Xbox, ESPECIALLY, since it's got High Def Programmes.

There was some1 banging on morning tv about this(ish), I didn`t get all of it (toothbrush in mouth sorta thing) - but he was chatting with an Xbox symbol behind him then it lead onto a feature about all these units in the household, in a demo house, with conversion thrown in as a buzz-word and showing off technology that`s very old-hat, but been revamped as a demo - "and all the data being stored in one central computer`s harddrive".

All I could think of as I heard these words in the background is.. m8y u`r an Xbox bloke, how are you even qualified to bang on about this when u know damn well u need u`r Xbox owners to this year buy u`r new 1G (or whatever) harddrive unit expansion for hundreds of pounds.

A touch screen here to browse music thingies, surf the net, and an Xbox menu selecting things to do stuff - the Xbox is no-way going to allow u to store/access it`s most important feature, gaming, from a storage of a network based pc - not without a several hundred pound *special* network interface that u would have to buy from them, and no 3rd party variants.

Talking loud and saying nothing, nice glossy media show tho.

Now an Xbox u that could base all it`s storage alot easier than now would be great. I couldn`t get it to download stuff to a flashdrive, it only recognized it as something to look at pictures off.

Apple iTV was released today, I wonder if they can get away with it being called ITV...

they'll make some crap up about the name and get away with it. They seem to have a tendency of ripping people of.

They've just released their "iPhone", not sure how they're getting away with that either :\.

Thats because everybody loves Apple because of the gay ass Ipods. Seriously, they suck. So until everybody realizes how much Apple sucks, they will get away with anything pretty much like M$. On this TV/Xbox thing, its rediculously pointless. If you have cable or regular TV like me, just turn off the Xbox and whammo, you got TV. Simple as that folks. TV on Xbox isnt going to be any different besides the fact that you MIGHT be able to use it as a Tivo unit. If thats the case, get a tuner card. I understand about how TV stations are getting cloged cause over here its almost all Mexican channels now. Thats why i avoid TV as much as possible and only watch the news occasionaly. Only show i watch on a daily basis is South Park and thats on my server.

Did you not read the above posts?

then you would of seen the reason why it isnt "rediculously pointless". It may not be the best thing for you in the US at the moment. But it isnt just the US that are doing it.

Exactly what is the difference between the same TV being on Xbox and coming off your Tube? Ok so its going through the net, but your probably going to have to pay a rediculous amount of cash for it too.

forget the bleeding xbox, we're talking about IPTV, we're talking about the protocol.

Can your tv do this lot too?

· Send photos of home movies from your PC directly into the TV and view them on the TV screen

· View photos and listen to music via the TV

· Send an email message to your friends through the TV screen while you watch a TV show together across great distances

· Use a cell phone to change channels on your TV

· Allows service providers to deliver only those channels the consumer wants at a given time, rather than all the channels available as happens with today’s cable TV networks.

· Access specific TV channels you want to watch when you want to watch them; as well as access more different TV channels.

· Receive brief and unobtrusive telephone network caller ID information on your TV screen while still watching TV, to decide whether you want to answer the phone or not; this would enable you to screen telemarketers, among other things.

· Play video games using your TV set rather than your computer

· Reduce the number of remote controls in your house for use with the TV, VCR, and DVD player, thereby reducing home electronics costs and clutter and simplifying the experience using such equipment.

There's also the on demand stuff. You may already have this over there, not sure. It's just becoming available here with topup tv.

You can uses VIVO or a capture card to do this.

WebTV was outdated a LONG time ago, never made it. Use a computer sheesh.

· Use a cell phone to change channels on your TV
Hello? THats what a remote is for?

I believe thats what you pay your cable and Sat providers for.

Same thing, if you want to be even more specific, online TV via broadband or Tivo.
· Receive brief and unobtrusive telephone network caller ID information on your TV screen while still watching TV, to decide whether you want to answer the phone or not; this would enable you to screen telemarketers, among other things.
10 bucks, caller ID and a telezapper. If your that lazy then have the phone next to you. Hell, i have a phone in my old coutch and it came that way.

· Play video games using your TV set rather than your computer
Tv out? Xbox? Consoles?
· Reduce the number of remote controls in your house for use with the TV, VCR, and DVD player, thereby reducing home electronics costs and clutter and simplifying the experience using such equipment.
All in one remote, or like my friend does, use his DirecTV remote for everything including his AIW.

On demand usualy comes with PPV or digital Comcast((Time Warner)Local providers in US)

Well not suprised to see the usual naysayers slagging Microsoft off again really. Listening to the whole conference there's some defininate innovation from them and in all honesty it's nice to see

Well IMO this thing is going to be sexii. It has a lot of great features all wrapped into one. Xbox 360 + TV + HD + On demand = :yumyum:

Dude don't flame people. If you were not immature you wouldn't flame and would have said you can have your opinion but I feel it isn't good, we'll see once it comes out.

Your slating something because it doesnt fit YOUR needs, what about everyone else's?

I'd love to see your living room, with all the different equipment you would need for the way you explained things up there. Not sure how you come to the conclusion that "stuborn and immature" is my answer to everything, You've been on this forum for a week?!?!?
