Memory Combination

Hi all,

I hav a doubt here. :o Is it ok to mix 2 different DDR-RAM speed type, DDR400 + DDR333 but both have the same CL2.5 in the same system?

Wat if the one of them is CL3 and the other one is CL2.5?

Any suggestion?

Cheers

yeah its fine mate, but the problem is that youll have your faster ram running at the same speed that the slower ram runs at but otherwise its fine

yeah i am doing it at the moment. the small problem which harmonicgen pointed out is that the ram all has to run at the same timings and so will default to the slowest SPD, although manually adjusting these timings in the BIOS shouldnt be a problem and i'm sure that they will tightten up to the speed of your fastest ram as long as you rent overclocing too much.

Then the PC3200 will be running at PC2700 until you upgrade that 2700 stick to a 3200.

My system seems working well, no resistance at all. The combination works fine. Is the system adjusting itself to run 2 different speed or should I adjust it to DDR333?
