Its only a bit longer than the 6800GT and the cooling solution is much nicer looking :D

I'll finish it off Sunday - got a busy weekend ;)

Just a quick Farcry HDR Screenie for you:

Its only a quick screenie as I did a run-though to see if it played fine. Ummm - it does ;)

And here's the drivers I had to use or HDR wouldn't work (77.62):

Here's the one I got:

A w00t for that!! :D:D:D

Here are some benchies I have done @ stock quick for those who wanted them.

These are all done at: 1280 x 1024 as my monitor supports this. I use FRAPS and do three runs through of each thing. These are all 3 minutes strict gameplay run-throughs.

CSS:

I didn't notice much quality difference in CSS and my monitor only allows me to run @ 1280 x 1024 but I enabled 16X AF and that improved it a bit. I do find it seems to be a more flowing experience.

I did FRAPS on a game I was playing for 3 minutes twice and everaged out the scores:

Result: 184FPS

Farcry:

Gives (to me) a lovely flowing experience with HDR Level 7 enabled. I use 1280 x 1024 and put everything up to maximum in-game details.

It looks amazing and I did a runthrough game with FRAPS to get the princely FPS of:

Farcry "Carrier: Checkpoint 3" 3 mins = 65FPS

Half-Life 2

Half Life 2 is a lot like CSS. It looks damn good anyway and I can't wait to see what West Coast or whatever it is looks like. MMmmm - Half Life 2 HDR!! Anyway I put all settings up to full apart from AA which I left at 3x (don't think nvidia cards can have 6x). 16x AF again @ 1280 x 1024. I played a bit of the water part and then went inside and killed some bad guys and also did the part where the girder smashes open the gate for you. Excellent. Not a hitch in the game.

Half Life 2: Water: 120FPS

BF-2:

I only have the Demo for BFG at the moment and for some unholy reason it only allows 1024 x 768. Undetterred I set this and put every setting up the the fullest. Gives a smooth gaming experience and looks wicked. I've purchased the retail copy so I might do a re-run for you with that.

I love this game and the 7800GTX sails through it :D

BF-2: "Demo Map": 78FPS

Overclocking:

Well I got to 493/1350 before it wouldn't go any further in the nvidia drivers. Here's the OC'ing results in 3DMarl'05 for you:

Aquamark is a bit more CPU-bound than '05 so that's wh it aint that high. Still pretty good D

Build Quality

This is a Gigabyte and they build stuff well. Its all put together nicely and well I can't see anything wrong so far

9.5/10

Value for money

Yes they cost a helluva lot. But then: ya get what you pay for. I don't regret a single penny and I'm sure I won't in the future :D

8.5/10

Functionality

It does exactly what it says on the tin. And does it very fast. What more can I say?? This is a great card and will stand you well for at least 6months ;) (j/k)

8/10

:anisx: Factor

Well just take a look at the scores and the nice OC'ing results. Its a sweet card and with some w/c or cascade/phase change on it it would really beat the crap outta any score!!

10/10

kempez do you notice any difference in quality between the 6800 and the 7800gtx

Well when I played a HDR run-though on Farcry it was very very smooth with High frame-rates. When I tried it with my GT, it just couln't cut it I'm afraid...it was a bit jerky.

Haven't played Doom 3 on it but I have to re-install it to do that. I will play it and see.

I'll be adding to this a lot as I do more stuff. BF-2's coming soon so I'll include that too.

In the gemes I have played (briefly) it just feels much smoother and like it aint even trying. Hard to explain :D

yeahh thats allright i can just see by the benchmarks

wow nice !

I didnt know you that you had the money to buy a 78 GTX...

i wish i had that kind of money atm (i have like 40 $ atm ;D).

Yeah... please give us some benchmarks from BF2 etc.

On the farcry screenshot... it looks like you disabled AA, did you ? If yes why ?

Nice card...but

I can run FarCry with HDR, 4xAA, Everything on VERY HIGH, 1024x768, and it runs great?! You musta been @ a higher res, but yea, HDR rocks.

He was running 1280x1024.

I can run 1280x1024 with HDR, 4xAA, everything on very high and it runs great.

kempez, enable AA!

nice kempez does are some great scores. will you try and overclock it? because your vga is very overclockable. and what are the temperatures? what about noise? and is it very much larger than your gt? good luck with it kempez.

btw nick what drivers are you using on my 6800gt when i enable HDR on far cry alot of glitches appear?? maybe it's because of my 64 bit not sure anyway

kempez, enable AA!

You can't enable AA on HDR. If you enable AA - HDR does not run/is not running.

And every review I've seen says that for a decent frame rate, you can only enable HDR 2. I'm running it at 1280 x 1024 and with every other option but AA on full and its easily running it.

I'll get some benchies soon :D

Hey, very nice.

That graphic card seems to be realy good.

You have a extreme system right now there.

REP + for your work.

Eh, by the way what did you do with your old 68 GT ?

Thanks mate. I'll do some more when I get the time.

I RMA'd the old GT with some bullshit story about it not fitting into my SFF that I was making. They gave me a full refund and I just paid the difference!!:D

I was gonna sell it to PV but it cost too damn much to be worth his money :(

Nice kemp! Tempted to pick one of these guys up now :D hehe...

Austin, don't worry! He can't steal ur flame because he's using a different gpu, u still own the championship title for 6 series GPU's :)

all i can say is shame on you.... spending all that money and not getting a suitable monitor... i plan to finally jump into HTPC when the cards after 7800s come out... it better not be a 8800... 6800 just looks cool... 7800 doesnt... but makes sense... 8800... would look lame... they should inflate to 10000
