Hi peeps,

So I just bought (yesterday) a new skylake system consisting of the following
i7 6700k
Asus Maximus VIII Formula board
G.Skill Trident Z F4-3200C15D-32GTZ 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MHz DDR4 ram
Asus 980ti strix video card
Samsung 950 pro ssd
Corsair hx850i psu
nzxt noctis 450 case
nzxt kraken x61 aio cooler.
plus a wd 6tb black hard drive for storage.

Sound blaster zxr sound card which I had from my previous haswell build

Thought it would all go together nicely but having serious issues with the ram.
Trying to enable xmp causes the boot to fail with "overclocking failed" message.
using it in auto seems to be ok but obviously much slower than the rated 3200mhz speed of the ram. Tried the very latest bios and still no luck -> "overclocking failed"

Now been reading that lots of people are having issues with the board and xmp.
What can I do to get it working at the rated speed?
The modules are listed as being supported in the online manuals.

Also now I find out that using the sound card with the board has a nasty bug where the system won't shut down. It keeps fans spinning and all lights on.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm a noob when it comes to memory overclocking.

Also tried asking this in the rog forums buy my profile needs to get approved first
