Maximus vi hero sound problems

When building the new computer on the Maximus vi hero motherboard I find the audio wont work for the surround sound. subsequently I have upgraded the bios to the latest and the realtek drivers to the lastest for windows 8 64bit. The surround sound system is the creative 7.1 system which was working fine on my old rig.

has anyone got any ideas or come across this?

Are you sure that in Realtek Audio Manager the speaker setup is set to 5.1/7.1?
When you say that the surround sound doesn't work what exactly do you mean? do all speakers play?

none of the speakers work.

as far as i can see there is only one setting for cpu audio which enabled. front audio is disabled as i do not have front audio in this case *i have tried with front audio enabled with no success.

Try not to double post, use the multi quote button instead.
Open the Volume mixer(press the start button and type sndvol.exe) and play something, does the bar fill with green/grey color for the program that is playing or the master slider?

thanks for you advice, it turned out what seems to be a power supply failure of the surround sound when transferring it from old rig to new rig.

Ah, that sucks. Hope the system is still in warranty.
