Mass hysteria over the abit AW9D-MAX?

I ordered mine this morning for $240 from ZipZoomFly and I just checked their site and they are pulling $340 for this board?!?!?! That's an a HUGE indicator that so many people are trying to get their hands on this board that retailers think they can way overprice it to make a few extra bucks. What do you think about this, is the board $340 good? I'm just happy that I was able to snag it for $240 earlier this morning from the same site!

Here's the current link to the board listed @ $340: https://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=240505

MAybe a typo? If not, then yea, you did good Frag. The AW9D is a strong board and I rpedict you'll have fun with it!

I wish companies would stop :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: on the little guy as Spooner in iRobot says.

Yeah it's a bloody shame to see a company take such blatant advantage of it's customers like that. I'm also not happy with ZZF as they didn't get my board posted yesterday, and I paid for overnight service, those bums. :cussing:

For that price, I think the Asus P5W64 WS is a better choice then...

Where are the days that you could get a "premium" motherboard for under 200$... I guess every company now wants to get its share of profit in the "overclocking market" :(

The stupid price rise sucks in this case

But you have to tremember several things with modern mobo's

* We now demand lots of optional extra's - HD audio/17million SATA connecters/ wifi etcetcetcetc

* The pins are on the motherboard, but the CPU so this gives the manufacturers additional cost and also higher return rates - in a field that traditionally does not yield huge margains.

* BIOS support is also demanded more and more and this costs money to employ clever people to write it.

..and probably the thing that bumps up the price the most - Intel Chipsets.

Intel want to sqeeze every penny out of their 975/965 chipset before something better comes along and kills it. Obviously Mobo makers have to pass chipset price increases on to the consumer.

When I move to conroe I just want a good OCing board with standard features, unfortunately good Ocing boards have like wifi and digital music capabilities etc...(all the stuff I will never use)

PS: I love how Abit Asus and ECS are all in my city xD

My answer to shops who profiteer like Zip Zoom Fly is to vote with my feet, in otherwords shop somewhere else, if enough people do it they will go bust, then the decent shops who are fair will get more income, some like Special Tech offer discounts, we should be using these people more.

What goes round comes round.

Y'all should see the ASUS Striker (680i based board), it was selling, and sold out, at $399 @ ZZF.

It's not any worse than NewEgg selling the QX6700 for $1,500 the moment they listed it. And they sold out of it anyway after several days.

I was wondering when ASUS would put out an ROG mobo for Intel, I helped a friend pick components and assemble a pc with the Crosshair as the mobo... very nice indeed. But for $400 bucks, that thing better clean my apartment, do my laundry, and gimme a sponge bath every night. That said I would hope the ABIT IN9 MAX is still in the low to mid 200's. I shaved $50 off my last mobo by going with the vanilla AW9D instead of the MAX, and I'm not sorry I did.

Yeah, I'm definitely eager to see Abit's IN9 32X-MAX board... latest info I got says it comes out in January though, and is ~$240 on paper. Should be enough time anyway for them to work those bugs out out that nVidia's reference-based models are having... I hope, anyway. ;)

Yeah it sucks because reports said it would be out by the end of the year and just recently abit said that it wouldn't launch until January :(

Just ordered the first of two 8800GTS's, will grab an IN9 MAX anyway so I can definitely hook up SLI. (I really need to stop upgrading and spending my $$$ on other things...)
