Making the transfer

24/04/2014 Log:
So I finally got round to buying a new case (since it was 2009 since I purchased my Hiper Osiris and it's getting a little tired), and some of have probably seen it arrived in all its glory.
Well since I got a new case, I thought I should spruce everything else within my case up as well. I ordered some sleeving and heat shrink and had a go at my first cable management job. Here is what I've got so far :D
Hope you enjoy.

3/05/2014 UPDATE:

So I started on the 24 pin & the 8 pin that were pre braided with the PSU. I've done a terrible job, but the machine as a whole is looking a bit better. Here are some pics. - I ruined one or two of the ones I did before so will have to re do those at a later point. I ran out of white braid so need more xD

1/05/2014 UPDATE:

ZVEm2z8.jpg

More stuff came for my build. I can finish my cabling now, & tidy up the inside as some of you suggested :). LED strip too, how suave :D. On another note, I ordered so much Phobya stuff they sent me a free lanyard ^_^

25/04/2014 UPDATE:
Just purchased some new bits (sadly not a new cooler yet TTL, soon™), I got some shiny lighting, more braid and some other bits and pieces to start the 24 pin and whatever else is left over. Also got a pin removal kit, £10 ebay for 4 tools. So that's all to come.

Next week I think i'll (after paying £200 car tax and rent and bills and stuff) order the h105 and maybe a couple of the shiny corsair fans that everyone seems to be huge fans of.

What do I think so far? - I think corsair should include their trademark fans for the price of this case, and I think their stealth drive cover on the front is sh*t, It gets stuck and feels rather rushed. Otherwise It's spot on! Love it.

The case was staring at me yesterday

A lot, while I was trying to write essays

A rather hefty upgrade in size, but none the less a good choice IMO

You can probably see why I wanted a new case

The braiding, screaming that I'm an incompetent cable braider.

Not a bad job I thought.

IT WORKS!!

So far I've spent all day working on the 2 6-pin connectors and my fingers are killing me, since I didn't have the tools for braiding I used pins and staples to get the cables out of the housing. I've got to get some heatshrink and wrap for the 24pin and the sata cables and then I think i'll be content. Now just to wait for my student loan...

your sleeving is okay, but you should use a LOT less heatshrink :) looks far better with less, and you want the sleeve to pretty much touch the connector if that makes sense. Not bad at all for a first try though :)

Thermaltacky BE GONE!

Nice rig. :) Would you not prefer to have white LED fans like the AF120's in the front though? I just think blue is old school now.

Lol they do look blue in the pictures don't they. They are the standard white led fans that come with the 760t and I plan to get some white led strips. You're right:).

Thanks guys. Maybe when I get a bit better I'll have another shot at re braiding the 6pins

Aye fella it's all practice, no-one gets it perfect the first time, and at least you've tried instead of just pre-buying them :) No harm in learning new skills!

Keep it up!

FYI the idea is to see as little cable as possible so those PCIE cables need routing round the back.

You also need to BURN that ThermalTACKY cooler now you are getting the big boys toys like that case

Kind words Tom, thanks :).

I do intend to get the h105 asap, as I want to squeeze a little more out of my cpu. Sadly being a student, beautiful items like this come one at a time (when the loans come in LOL). - Hoping it will fit since what you said about heatsinks on motherboards in the review (space in the top)

I have to say, room round the back on the motherboard tray is pretty tight with everything stuck in there :O.

Treat it like a parent, do anything for your kids and put yourself last, get that H105 and eat beans on toast till your next student loan. ;)

I personally prefer the Heat-Shrinkless method of cable sleaving. It is not hard to do and I think it looks much better. There are videos by Lutro0 on youtube that show you how its done. Also do yourself a favor, get an pin remover tool, its a big time saver.

Here is the video of the method I use: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rmj5B8z1Os

Yay a fellow Tortoise owner! :D. I believe mine and yours are the same breed of Herman as well.

Yay cool! - He is a Herman and he is 7 years old :)

This looks cool. How much are pin removal tools? It did kill my fingers doing it with pins.

I got mine and all my sleeving materials from Lutro0 Customs site. Its in the USA, and he shipped really fast. The removal tool is $17, or you can find the original Molex one at lots of places. I have had great dealings with Lutro0 and they have good videos and great products. I suggest you watch his videos on the Youtube channel if your interested in sleeving. I was brand new at trying this and ended up doing a really good job with the no shrink method. I am convinced its the way to go.

Ahh thanks for the advice. I'll have a look round their site and see what I can get. Not sure If I want to go heat shrink free, I sort of like the way it looks. Maybe if I do a nice job of the 24 pin I'll do everything else in the case. Btw does anyone know any smart ways of putting LED strips in, or is it just a case of shoving it in and hiding the cables as best you can? I don't have any molex's in there at the moment, but there is not much room left the other side of the motherboard tray.

Hey guys, anyone able to help me here, about to purchase a new cooler. In TTL's video review for the 760t he mentioned there is a space issue with motherboards that have heatsinks that reach the top of the board, and being able to fit a hydro 105. Any one able to tell me if this is enough space between the edge of the board and the heatsink for me to fit it?

UPDATE: Made a start on the PSU, realised I couldn't quite finish due to not enough white braiding. >.<

Still working on replacing the cooler. Think I might see if I can on payday or something

love that case, FYI heatshrinkless in my opinion is an easier way to sleeve. If you're having difficulties you may want to go that way?

Yeah people have been saying. I am not sure if I like it though :s. Plus i'd have to re do it all and it would be a waste xD
