THE ATX SW on the board is connected to the yellow wire off the mach unit - the blue and white cable from teh mach is connected to the power switch on the case.

Hope everybody had a good Xmas my heads a bit fuzzy today:?

i have put my system back together and have fallen at the first hurdle,

when i press the start button the Mach II starts to cool but when it gets to -33 the PC itself does not start?

any ideas?

Make sure teh yellow cable is connected properly to the ATX SW or power switch on the motherboard - all should be well then. Once that temperature is reached you can use the onboard powerswitch to turn on the system manually just to check it's all okay.

IF it does not start after that then make sure you have all you power conected to the motherboard correctly.

Also if you are trying the DFI for the first time make sure your ram is in the orange slots (prefereably for first start-up just use one stick of ram)

Out of interest which PSU are you using on that DFI motherboard, are you using the 4v DIMM and what RAM?

Thanks Mav the power cable had worked itself loose

I have a 1KW PSU bought from Phil, 4v DIMM?? not sure and I've got 1GB Gskill LE 4400 although I'm only using 1 as you recommended.

i have changed the ram to the orange slot and it all fired up OK but it did not recognise my USB keyboard so i dug out an old keyboard and that works OK.

when i start it up it gets to the PCI device listing screen and at the bottom it says Verifying DMI pool data ..........

But that's as far as it goes??

Any idea why this might be??

Yep - it's possible you are on an older BIOS. As soon as you can get into Windows download and install the 623 BIOS found in the download section at www.DFI.COM.TW

The USB keyboard has to be enabled in the BIOS (I think??) and up the volts on the ram to 2.8v in the Genie BIOS settings.

I am assuming that you have connected Serial ATA devices in the NVIDIA SATA ports (the 4 port set-up in a square) not the inline ports which are SIL3114 (SIL3114 can be disabled in the BIOS)

That should get you into Windows - also ensure that if you have more than one hard disk conntected that the boot drive (the one with the OS installed) is set to the number 1 postion in the hard disk boot priority settings in the advanced BIOS section or is in port 3 on the NVIDIA SATA connectors.

Done all that

I have 3 hard drives the OS is on my 2 raptors in RAID 0 will this stop it from booting??

I've got a new message now its says A disk read error occurred

Is it a new mobo or have you set windows up on it before with the mobo. If your using a RAID from another PC then it wont work

It was all working on a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe before now i have a DFI lanparty Expert!!

Does this mean i will have re-format everything?

It's possible - especially if the RAID drives are connected with the stripe the wrong way round, try swapping the SATA connectors first.

I am assuming that you have enabled NVRAID in the BIOS and the correct channels are enabled (you will know you have done that as the BIOS will go through a RAID check first as it boots up and tell you that it has recognised striped array).

It's not something easily done over the phone Rakem mate - best just to be a bit methodical and try one thing at a time.

I don't think it is possible to migrate a RAID Array over tbh. I may be wrong but the guy at work I spoke to about mine said it wasn't possible, thats why I no longer use RAID. It's something to do with the drivers not being the same for it.

We may be proved wrong tho.

I have enabled Raid in the BIOS and it now detects it upon start up!!

Now i can get to the screen that asks me if i want to start in safe mode but when i try and start it in safe mode i get to the screen that says windows XP with the blue load line going across then the screen goes blue and it starts itself again just repeating this cycle???

The Asus board uses the NF4 NVraid controller chip and so does this DFI board, you could give it a bash, it might work. Just make sure you enable the raid and sata ports in the bios. If it does'nt work try swapping them around (ask Phil which ports he used originally) but don't bother using the Sil 3114 controller it won't work for sure.

There is a problem with TCCD and the first release BIOS - download teh 712 beta BIOS off the site - use some generic ram for boot up and flash the BIOS - all should be well then.

Mav

Yeah if it's and EXPERT BOARD I been looking on DFI-STREET.com at this and there are plenty of instances where TCCD dont work in an EXPERT at all - the 712 BIOS helps a lot.

PCWorld - man that sux, but it is the season where ur local PC shop aint gonna be open - can't you borrow some from somewhere/someone?
