OK I've robbed 1GB Crosair 3200R from my mums PC I'm assuming this is not TCCD?

When i started it up i got a intermittent beeping sound and nothing else happened??

Any ides??

Okay try the other orange slot - or try and re-seat again that ram is BH6 so pump 2.9v into em and see if you can boot up from there.

Mav

It stays on 3 lights with the new RAM witch means CPU:O but when i put old RAM back in all the lights go out??

mmmmmmmmmm - food for thought here, i has this problem but for me it was the other way round.

Put the one stick of gskill back in the orange slot closest to the CPU - when the computer starts go into the BIOS.

Change RAM voltage to 2.8v, LDT voltage to 1.3v and LDT multiplier to x4.

If you go into ram settings from the top set at 200mhz - enable - 2 - 2 - 6 -2 then put all the other settings on auto, save and restart.

The objective is to enable you to flash the BIOS to the latest version (Beta 0712), but to do that we need to be able to get you into windows with some sort of stability.... hopefully this will work for you - if it does not then you may need to make a purchase at PCWorld for 256mb of PC3200 ram (nothing fancy just the cheap stuff).

Tried that Mav and still can't get into windows?

The only thing that might be of use is i could not even get it to start when i put my memory in slot 4 the one closest to the CPU it will only work in slot 2 (the first orange slot)

Off to PC World for me!!

OK bought 256MB PC3200 184pin 400Mhz DIMM (32x64) RAM from PC World and it's the same as the Crosair RAM, starting to think about throwing it out of the window!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it would not boot with the new RAM so i put the Gskill back in, went to the BIOS and reset everything then put the PC World RAM in and it booted, went back into BIOS enabled RAID and now I'm back to where i was with the Gskill it goes to the windows load screen but half way through it restarts itself??

I'd say try a fresh install of XP. All those drivers and things there that XP would be loading up would be for your previous motherboard. I've seen this happen before when you plug a hard drive which has an existing OS on it into a different motherboard. Sometimes it will work and XP will just start to reconfigure itself once it loads but sometimes you get whats happening to you now.

Unfortunately Zax is right my friend - a complete re-install will then rule out any conflicts between the ASUS installation and the new EXPERT unit.

These boards are great - but you really do need to be methodical about what you are doing, I can now bench with my X2 at 264x12 whereas with the non-expert I was only able to go to 262x12.

Its a love/hate relationship with the EXPERT for me - love the performance, hate the amount of tinkering.

In saying all that if you download the 712 BETA BIOS you should be good to install it now at least and get some stability when you do your re-installion.

Cheers

I've installed a floppy drive this morning so i can install the RAID drivers and started re-installing XP!!!

I've got everything crossed hoping its going to work!!!

I take you have not updated the BIOS yet? That being the case and you get blue screen while installing you will have to update - now you have a floppy driove it'll be easy as the DFI program formats a floppy for and then automatically installs the update program and BIOS onto the disk for you - all you have to do then is put the BIOS disk in the floppy drive (making sure that the first boot-up device is the removable drive in BIOS) and will will auto-update for ya.

Mav how can i update the bios as i could not get it into windows to go online.

I have a laptop but it has no floppy drive?

Up hitting f6 during setup of xp be sure to install the Nvidia NForce Storage Controller first and then the Nvidia raid class driver. Both are required.

It's probably one of those things where if you never had bad luck you would not have any luck at all :(

I remember you posting that you have borrowed some ram from a friend/relative - if they can get online maybe thats the solution?
