Mach 2 GT High Temps?

Currently running a Mach 2 GT and 3000+ Winnie, on a MSI Diamond Sli Board.

I bought the Mach 2 Recently, iv set the unit up in a lovely PC6+ Lian Li, and so far its pretty good exeept Tempretures on CPU arent as low as i was hoping or expecting.

The Evap Head is at a fairly cool 53degrees atm and is holding there.

However the CPU is currently sitting at -3 degC and when loaded goes to around 10deg C.

Am i expecting 2 much or is somethign wrong?

Iv tryed and tryed to reseat the bugger but for the life of me cant work out how to get it to sit better.

Any help or advice would be Greatly Appreciated,

Try trimming the mounting kit, what voltage are you putting through the cpu.

Also what speeds have you hit ??

Firstly what overclock are you running and at what voltages i.e. is the performance good and the temperature perhaps misreading? My brother-in-law's Abit nforce4 board running an FX53 on air is mis-reading the CPU temp as 70degC:eek: so is this perhaps an issue on your board? Also what is the difference between idle and load on ur evaporator temps since under load I would expect the temp to rise if the contact is ok?

Cheers for the replys

Im running atm at 1.55v ( the max possible through this board without mod) at about 2.8ghz, but the temp doesnt seem to change weathers its on 1.8 or 2.8, as for the evap temp il have to check when im back at home.

The temp doesnt seem to ever reach a - atm seems to sit between 2-10 deg c.

On water i could reach 2.6 without much trouble bue due to running mem 1:1 couldnt get much past that, atm im running with a 166 divider to check for maximum core speed.

Im fiarly happy with the performance im getting as i did get it up to 3ghz for a few mins although i have been unable to replicate that which is slightly annoying.

So what temps are all you guys getting on the core?

Sounds about right to me :) running my 3400+ 1MB CG @ 1.8v 2800MHz gives me about +2c to +5c under load and -25c under idle.

I have however now adjusted Speedfan which compensation as the DFI reads 10c higher than the actual core so that takes it too between -12c and -5c under load :)

Iv come to the conclusion that the Temp Sensor is off, im getting some fairly nice results and with some more volts the DFi board iv got ordered should get me over 3Ghz without much trouble.

The reason i say i think the temps look wrong is the fact, your running a Newcastle with 1.8 Vthats going to be a fair bit hotter than a Winnie at 1.55.

Mine NEVER goes into a - value even at Stock speeds and voltages sits around 3 deg C idle. It also goes as high as 15 deg C loaded at over 2.9Ghz.

The Evap temp changes from -53 unloaded to -45 loaded so i think its a good contact. Hopefully with the DFi board il see temps that actually break into the - values

I'm actually running a 1MB CG Clawhammer 3400+ so that would be even hotter :o

Perhaps thats how the DFIs get round the winnie cold boot issue ;)

:) well its actually in a MSI Diamond 4 atm, i have the SLI -D comming today, i felt i needed the extra volts, it also gives me a chance to use BH5 instead of TCCD.
