Skylake competition system

Hey guys,

So as you may or may not know from the competition thread I went and visited the lovely folks at PCSpecialist to collect my prize this week. It was quite the round trip (7.5 hours) but totally worth it.

Here she is sitting under my desk currently

I know i know something this beautiful should NOT be under my desk but I live in a smallish flat and there is an annoying shelf above my desk which is stopping me having it sat next to me :'( was gutted about this.

Have set it all up now with witcher 3 as the only game so far but on this card it runs like butter, didn't think this game could look any better than it already did on my old system but wow!

Now onto what I want to do with this system going forward.

Overclocking will obv be experimented with in due course, so will update on here when I get round to that.

I'll also be using this to continue making my airsoft videos which have become a recent passion for me and game my heart out. I've actually gone and bought a 1TB 850 Evo to hold footage while I edit it along with it acting as a secondary game drive. I will need to look into what solutions are best for holding all the footage and my music etc. moving forward as I don't want to eat up all the valuable SSD space with this stuff. Maybe a NAS??

Also i'm having 2 little teething issues which I wonder if anyone can help me with. It's prob something small but having not upgraded in a while I wonder if i've missed something obvious. So any advice on these would be appreciated.

- The front audio connectors (Mic, headphone) seem reversed. I plug headphone into headphone and it thinks it's the pink mic port and vice versa so am currently running my headset from the back. HD audio connector is connected correctly (it can only fit on one way)

- The ethernet port doesn't always detect there's a cable attached and requires me to turn my homeplug on and off again to start receiving internet. it's almost like the computer doesn't relay a signal back to the homeplug to tell it to wake up if it's not been online for a while.

Anyway I just really wanted to take this opportunity to really really whole heartedly thank everyone once again for this. As an enthusiast like pretty much everyone else here i'm sure you can imagine how it really has blown my mind that I have won a dream system like this. TTL, PCS and the forum guys you're all awesome and I know i'll continue to be part of this fantastic community as it continues to grow and develop as it already has so much since I joined in 2011.

THANK YOU :) :)

I'd be removing the shelf! If you're renting it's a bit awkward because you can't really go drilling holes in the walls to mount the beast where it belongs. Of course paint and some filler is pretty cheap.. :)

Don't know anything about your case but maybe the audio connectors were just wired up backwards. You could either live with it or mod it. Assuming that the plug is an all in one job (like the USB Connectors) and not individual pins like you get for your Power/Reset/LED etc I'd be looking at how they're connected and try to work out a way to fix it from there if it is individual pins - just swap them over.

Is that a wireless controller dongle on top? I have one that I mounted behind the motherboard tray and run an internal usb2 connector off. Hides it nicely.

Congrats on the win! looking forward to some more pics :)

Unfortunately we do rent but this will certainly be going pride of place as soon as it's possible.

Good idea hiding the dongle, might have a go at that

Congratulations again :D Look after it :D Looks like a hell of a system. Why don't you put it on the ceiling, can double as a light :P

Right, starting to have a go at overclocking this thing.

Set multiplier at 45

Set voltage at 1.35 adaptive

Suddenly it's showing 1.49 volts idle and 1.38ish under load... wtf!!??
