Mac mini updates

A large portion of the Apple Mac community is waiting for Apple to refresh the Mac Mini line. We learned today that the next generation of Mac Mini computers will be based on Nvidia's Ion platform.

I really hope this goes ahead, I'll certainly be buying one for my HTPC. It should be able to handle 1080p fairly well.

I'm really excited about the ion stuff, It will mean netbooks will be able to play hi def videos ect, those little nettops will be pretty good. Have a read about the ion stuff here

Existing Mac mini's are almost like external optical drives on steroids and ports ! Can't believe how small they are tbh.

What's the Ion thingy ??

Latest I seen from nVidia @ CES was the buzz around them making every game look 3d, proper 3d, without glasses or any extras. (whilst tv makers were donning glasses, weird shadowy screens etc)

People have already stated that 2009 will be the end of netbooks 'cos of the lack of power (wtf did they expect from such a tiny thing?).

I only see this postponing this fact...

But hey! Atleast it will be like a portable Blu-Ray player...

Haven't seen a netbook worthy of any use tbh.

I end up looking at my phone, then the pc, then a laptop - then peer at a netbook wondering "yeah, what u want ?".

hehe, i know what you mean. I have one, but i travel alot. It's nice to keep in touch with people when i'm away. Just pop it in my man bag, lol!

Basically a graphics chip that helps out the cpu on a midget scale. In the video it shows a blu ray being played with the atom 330. Utilisation was at about 20%. i think thats impressive.
