Looking for advice on a cooler

Hello everybody.

I am in need of a new cooler to replace the stock fan in my rig as i am going to overclock in the near future. I wasn't too sure about getting the Noctua as it seems overkill for an i5, if you think otherwise let me know I'm happy to spend the money if it's worth it. Else I've been looking at the Coolink Corator DS, (the cooler going in the 3rd prize rig for the compo) and will happily accept any other recommendations.

Thanks

Recommend holding off on buying a new cooler for a bit, NH D14 is king of the hill but....

I Believe Tom said last night that he has one of these, My link Dark rock pro CPU coolers made my be quiet, on its way to his bat cave. I myself am holding off on the Noctua until I hear what he has to say about it.

Main reasons are that I'm building a black stealth rig ( the Dark Rock Pro is perfect for this), I cant stand the fugly Noctua fan case color and don't want to have to buy new RAM that will fit under the NH D14 fins and refuse to jerry rig, snap = break/modify the height of the ram to get them to fit.

I've done some research on the dark and I still don't know much about it. It's a fairly new product from Be Quiet out of Germany. I cant find any information on it's region availability (I'm in US) or the height from bottom of mounting base to bottom of fins and especially any reviews but I suppose if Tom gets his hands on it he'll pass that info on to us as usual.

If you have to have one right now I'd recommend the NH D14, See Toms review My link

If you want the best cooler thats epic value buy the D14. Anything else will give higher temps and have crappy fans.

The Coolink Corator DS is ok but you need to be real anal with setting up the fan or its loud as anything.

THE best cooler is the D14 and its only 55quid. Unless your not going to overclock?

The BQ sink may be on its way but I doubt Ill get it done for ages, just too busy atm.

Thanks for the extra info, will probably go with the D14 unless some extra info about the new cooler comes between now and payday.

Have to agree with the master. In meantime I'm hunting down any reviews before I make a NH d14 purchase because of my taller RAM.

Question...

Does anyone know if there is a quality adapter made for the NH D14 that will raise the cooler to allow you to use tall RAM? If so I will go ahead and buy Noctua now and just replace fugly fans.
