I finally got my rig all ready for leak testing, and went about starting to fill her up. So I started to fill the res, and it was time to turn on the pump, it started, without a problem. I then turned it off to ad some more coolant, and resarted the psu to engage the pump and nothing, it wouldn't run. So I tried a different, psu and even connecting it through a 2 pin to molex and nothing.
I then opened the back of the pump where the cables go in, and 2 of the little black chips ? under the thermal pads look as though they have melted a little. Has any one got any thoughts on what has happened ?
The pump is only about 3 weeks old, and only used for about 5 mins the day it arrived, when I connected it up to a res just to test. Since then it was dried out and placed back, in it box, until needed. All that I noticed was that when it came to disconnect, the molex was tight to pull out, but when it did disconnect, the two male pins stuck out a lot more than they should, to the point of the coloured part of the cable was in the molex housing. So I just used a tool, to remove the pins and put them back making sure to put them in the right order. Thats the one good thing about ocd, it makes you get very precise with things, so that is one thing I'm sure of the cables were put in the right order, It's hardly hard to get two cables the wrong way round.
