One of my DVD-RW drives is not longer unsable in Windows. Not sure why but it shows up in Windows but when I access a disc it freezes windows completely.

I've flashed the drive to different bios but still nada.

Any other suggestions I could try?

PS Its a Samsung 4163b

I`m not going to mention my Samsung SH-152L?? DVDRW that went unmentionable in windows the other day (stick a cd/dvd in and explorer freezes up). Then refused to read simple cds, but read large ones ok. Then decided not to allow booting from it.

o!

Switched it with a SONY and now the pc it`s on likes it ??!?!

Do u have anything like Daemon tools running ?

If you've already checked the cables and tried blowing inside the drive to dislodge any dust, then I'd say its a gonner :(

Nope, no Daemon tools running. I switched this over with another PC with the exact same model and it doesn't work, so it's definitely the drive.

Yup, tried it in another PC and still nothing. I haven't tried dislodging any dust but I think it's a goner too.
