Itunes and cd rom problem

Hey guys I have been having an issue with itunes for a while and I think it is about time I fixed it.

So what is happening is when I launch itunes to put music onto my ipod itunes goes to a cd with music on it when it firsts launches. Basically itunes thinks it is seeing an audio cd in my dvd drive which there is no disc in and then shows me a cd with supposedly 64 songs on it. Now as I said there is no disc in my drive but it shows up everytime I launch itunes.

It also shows up an audio cd in windows too. If I try to eject the cd via itunes or windows it opens my drive and nothing else.
Images of what it looks like are below

Any ideas?

Update on this. I reinstalled windows the other day after getting my ssd and now this problem has disappeared so not sure if it was a windows issue, itunes issue or if it was my optical drive.

I did move around some sata cables when installing my new ssd so maybe it was a loose sata cable or something. This might help someone with this issue in the future.

As this affects the operating system, next time check drivers. Check if you can rollback the driver. Uninstall and reboot from the Device manager and see if this resolves. Else, find the brand of the ROM device go online and update it. You can also check previous updates to see if the drivers were updated.

(Well, for next time at least)

Sounds like it was psudo mounting a drive with the same name/letter as one in the system.. How totally bizzare. I'm not surprised an OS re-install fixed it but good to know anyway

At the time there was no E drive in the system only C and D ie my first ssd and hdd. E was then the cd rom drive. I think it could just have been a case of a cable issue causing the problem which I changed when I installed my second ssd and thus moved some sata cables around.

I think the reinstall was not necessarily the solution but it didn't hurt.

Sata cables don't dictate drive letters matey, this sounds more like a software thing to me. Especially since it was showing tracks on the 'disc', Sounds like a mounted image to me that has a conflicting driver letter.

That would make sense as I sometimes use virtual clone drive.
