It's finally here!!!!

At last I have a GTX 295!

Had the BFG ordered but Play were taking forever so I cancelled that and went over to Ebuyer and bought the EVGA. Cost me £40 more but **** it I say :D

Also thought I'd include the sound card I bought in the sales at PC World. Have been lazy and not installed it yet as I'm expecting issues because I've gotta leave the crappy Asus FX II audio card thing in as it's got the front panel audio header on it. Geigh if you ask me.

I'll make a cable adaptor thingy to plug into the 10 pin output on the Creative card when I can be arsed to order the bits I need.

Anyway, here are some pics!

Yeah hopefully it's good.

Will probably start to clean my drivers soon and get the graphics card in there and make sure it's up and running correctly before I go adding the sound card.

It's a squeeze getting these 10" cards in and out of my Antec 900 what with the watercooling set up the way it is:

Hmm I love the art pic of the soundcard:yumyum:

Could you please resize that picture? My slow internet took an age to load it -.-

Hmmm ok so the 295 is now installed and all appears ok.

Tis odd though as after the drivers were installed I was getting these odd lines flashing across my desktop when I opened precision or any utility for that matter, even Firefox. It was fine just left on desktop but as soon as something was opened it went a bit mad.

Anyway switched my monitor to my TV to check I still had the sound working, which I did and I believe the SPDIF on this card is slightly better than on the 280.. Either that or I'm just making things up. Back to the point... Yeah switched back to my normal monitor and that problem seems to have gone...

Confuzzled.

Will just have to test it I spose.

Edit: Also, Swale, does your 295 suffer squeal much when under big load or churning out crazy high FPS?

Which one? Sound card or the last one?

I expect the last one as it is a bit large... Hmmm will try in a min.

Edit: Resized..

Ha ha yeah it's tough..

Sound card is in now and it stops the Asus Supreme FX II riser card. This is the first proper sound card I've owned and at default it sounds awesome.

Also can't believe that I've not had any conflict issues between the two... They both work perfectly well for what I need out of them.

As for fitting it all in... I'm having a little problem with on of my watercooling tubes between my pump and rad.. I'm gonna have to work out a way for it not to get a lil squished as this sound card is a little long.

Still slight issue with these artifacting lines going across the screen which is a little concerning.

that's a damm good card man  , hmm i dont know if the sound card was reviewed but i would love one if possible :D

one more thing, you are doing magic! how did you fit both card with those tubbings all the way? maybe you were good at tetris when young hehe

Glad to see it all finally turned up. Sexy looking card too. Although by some curious coincidence the 295 heatsink makes it look exactly like a video tape.

I was going to suggest the artifacts might be a power issue, but as you've run a X2 before, then it's unlikely to be that.

Hope you get it sorted.

Hmm that's some bad news with the artifacts :/ I have the squeeling on my HD4850 too, but when running F@H, slightly during games, and heavily while running my screens at non native res. Some googles turns out this is not uncommon and it shouldn't be a bad sign. Artifacts however ... :/

And I loved that one :) Have you tried cranking up the brightness a bit in photoshop?

Dunno about magic, but it is a damn tight fit. Really need a bigger case.

Jimbo said the exact same thing yesterday about it looking like a VHS cassette, and to be fair it does a lot. Yeah it's definitely not a power issue as this is happening when it's not even under load... A 500w power supply could handle one of these at idle. Seems like maybe a driver issue. Gonna try earlier versions in a little while to see if that sorts it.

Don't have photoshop and I'm pretty sure paint doesn't have the option :P... My room has really really crap light. To take any decent pics I'd needs to get my arse into an at least semi decently lit room.

Get benching you :D

Hell yeah I'm gonna bench the hell out of it... Especially in a couple of weeks when EVGA get their voltage tuning tool out. Well, obviously once I work out whether the card is buggered or just something odd going on in my system.

It's with a heavy heart that I must announce that I'm sending the 295 back :(

I'm pretty sure now that the card isn't right.

I was still getting the problem with the drivers that came on the supplied CD, the updated drivers from Nvidia's website and even without any drivers installed at all which ruled out a driver problem. All that left me was perhaps a hardware conflict but I managed to replicate the problem in my Dad's PC when I installed it in there.

That on top of the other problems such as massive coil squeal which I thought may have been down to my PSU causing interference, but it turns out it isn't down to my PSU as it also squealed very loud when under load (mainly under heavy load or when able to produce massive FPS such as in ATITool or Crysis) when in my Dad's PC.

Thirdly there is a slightly odd rattling noise that comes from the fan as soon as it goes above 50% (vs 41% standard).

All that stuck together I reckon results in RMA, don't ya think??

Even if when I get a new one and I still get these funky line type artifact things then at least I know it's a problem with my rig rather than the card. Have also noted the S/N to make sure they don't send me the same card back ;)

Gutted for you. Fingers crossed it's just a dodgy early batch. Couldn't you get a couple of 280s for the same cash?
