Got my new motherboard today and its a no go. Does exactly the same thing as it did with the old one. Every thing starts fine but does not post and nothing on the screen. X6800 must be toast. :( Well, back to the drawing board....

WTF! It might still live! This board is just crap for core 2's...after clearing the cmos like 10 times in a final attempt to get it to do anything it finally displayed cmos fail on the monitor!!! I got into the bios but the mobo turned off before I could look at anything. Its probably the cpu overheating. I only have a 20K rmp pointing at the cpu as I don't have an air cooler and didnt want to waste my time putting the prommy on it. After clearing the cmos 5 or 6 more times I got it to "post" again and this time I could see the x6800 in the bios before it turned off. I will be putting the mach on it 1st thing in the morning to see if it will work. Moral of the story is: unless your going quad sli, dont waste your time on this motherboard...or at least until asus puts a good bios update out there to fix this retarded board. Will keep you posted

got it hooked up to the mach and it wont F#!king post. Im still trying to get it to go but its not looking like it wants to. Im going to have to try a p5b I guess

no I havent but Im thinking about going that route if my next plan doesnt work. I see asus has a bios update for this board that wasnt there 2 weeks ago. One of the more interesting fixes says "improved cpu compatibility." The only problem now is I cant flash the bios because the board wont do anything with this processor.....so, i ordered the cheapest celeron I could find. 2.6ghz for 60 euro. Should be here within 48 hours. Hopefully then I can put it in my old p5n32-sli se, flash its chip and then swap chips between boards so I dont have to take the mach off of the x6800. Will keep you updated

ITS ALIVE!!! After getting a el-crapo celeron in the new motherboard I was able to get into the bios! Started right up. I flashed the board with the new bios, swapped the x6800 in and cleared the cmos. Was a little flacky at first but now its good to go! The other water-logged board is toast but the processor lives. I will never be without dielectric grease ever again. That 1 euro investment saved me $1000. W00t!!
