i got a asus a8n sli m/b when i turn it on the fans running of the mobo the lights on them will come on then go out and the fans will run really slow, yet the fans running on the m olex connecters run fine...... when i press and hold the reset button all the fans running off the mobo will run full speed with lights on when i release the reset button it will go back to slow fans help sx

so are you on that computer at the moment?? does it boot into windows?? what happens if you leave it with the fans running slow?

no on mums laptop.......im just sorting the wires yet to load a os just got 98 so i can upgrade to xp

its only the fans running off the mobo

it's because the mobo has a sensor on it that auto-controls the fans. as the pc warms up, they will spin faster and louder. as you just turned the pc on, they will spin slow.

the pc has been on for 2 hours now and it is still the same...could it be something to do with amds cool and quiet? the cool and quiet feature is turned off in the bios but is there anyway that it could still be on although it is turned off

I have it turned on in the BIOS with the AMD Drivers installed, but, I have the power management set so it isn't on. I only set it so it comes on when I'm going to be away from the PC and not folding.

Anyway, maybe the fans don't need to kick up yet. There may be an adjustment for it in the BIOS. I know there is for me.

Use Smart Guardian or whatever motherboard monitor you use and adjust the fan speed to come on at a temperature (CPU) that you feel is needed. I also adjust mine in the BIOS so the Chipset fan only comes on full when the CPU is above 36degC. This emans that my proc never rises above 44degC...ever.

Change the rate of spin for each different fan. For instance I put the two case fans that run full @ 18db to be on above 25degC...its still well quiet unless I game or fold (I'm enivitable doing one or the other tho) hehe :D
