Is my windows 7 ok for upgradeing major components?

Well i'm not sure where to post this so if its the wrong section I appologise in advanced.
Anyways this is the exact windows 7 I have http://www.kandco.com/microsoft-windows-7-premium/622893876.prd?browseToken=/q/windows+7
I was wondering is this ok for upgradeing major components like my motherboard and cpu?
If so is there a time frame I must obide to not void my licence?
Thanks - ztorm

You can upgrade whatever you want, your OS is independent from your hardware.

Oh ok Well my last pc (some dell)'s windows 7 was voided when I changed my motherboard I assume this is down to it being an company branded pc so the windows 7 is bound to that specific hardware?

Dell does do that, and some HPs did that as well. It is because they use an OEM copy which is branded to that computers motherboard. There are some very difficult ways around it but a non OEM version from Microsoft you will be fine.

Not true...

Windows links to your motherboard chipset, so you can only use windows if you upgrade to a new motherboard of the same chipset.
Going from 1155 to 2011 won't work, neither will P67 to Z77.

You'll probably have to reinstall windows to do it properly, although there are a few ways around it.

I went from AMD 990FX to z68 without an issue. I just had to install new drivers.

I have upgraded my motherboard quite a few times, only once was it fine, all the other times the os was all messed up and most of the time wouldnt even get into windows and would crash on start up

Yeah, I think sometimes you get lucky.
I went from 970 to z77 and it wouldn't have it at all.
Same story when I've tried my mum's hard drive in my PC and that wouldn't have it all either.

I did go from 760 to 970 too...that did work, but it was incredibly laggy and glitchy. I suppose sometimes you just get lucky, but I always think it's best to just do a fresh install anyway.
