Is my GFX card on its way out?

This has just happened and my PC froze, forcing me to reboot.

I suspect GFX card or PSU.

I've not touched the card. Its a factory set Gigabyte Super Overclock Edition 580. Its the first time its done this since I started playing Wildstar.

It did have a month of doing something similar, where the screen would go black and the PC froze, with sound stuttering. That was many months back, then things just started behaving normally again. Until now.

The earlier issues happened before Wildstar was out. It used to happen after launching World of Tanks, just as you enter the hanger. Then even sometimes while just using windows. A few times, upon starting it up, it went and rebooted before getting into windows.

Any ideas?

Is Wildstar still in BETA?

If so,not a good idea to base you opinion on,However maybe try running that 580 at stock speeds and see what happens. If it has the same probs that a lot of 5xx series card did,the volts may be a tad too low.

Errrm Wildstar has been live since 31 May 2014. Its a factory set overclock from gigabyte. So by stock, I take it to under clock the factory settings, or slightly increase the GPU volts?

So it is in full release then?

did not know that, but even so,a game that as only been out a couple of week may be a bad test(ask the guys who play watchdogs, still NO patch)
Yeah,go to factory settings and see if you have a problem,if no,then it ain't dying yet.

It could be that the clock is a tad too high and the card is starting to slightly degrade(or the game is a pain in the ass,see BF3),in the case of BF3 the cards were fixed with a slight bump in volts(this mainly was a 560ti problem,but...)

I think I got that right(well I know the BF3 part is right, after the 200 threads on it).Someone will correct me if I am wrong

My GPU recently started locking up when playing youtube videos, I got around that by uninstalling MSI Afterburner... if you're running afterburner might be worth a shot ;)

See OT, and you'll have read that I had similar, black screens before Wildstar was out. So far its not done anything bad yet. I think Wildstar being an MMO is more CPU dependant than GPU. Not declocked the card yet tho.

Nope, I ain't got afterburner installed, and I uninstalled that piece of junk called the GeForce Experience.

Is your CPU overclocked? If it is, it aint stable.

Check all your cooling, fans and make sure your case and vents are dust free.

Run MemTest and make sure your RAM isnt on the fritz which I kinda doubt is the problem but doesnt hurt to check.

Last time I saw that sort of thing on screen, it was to do with the thermals, gpu was getting way too hot, so as been suggested above, make sure it clean and then lower speed and voltages to reference card settings and volts, then if that improves it, try putting bk to default setting for card, and slightly increase voltage while keeping your eye on the temperatures.

Yeah thats what I think it is, overheating. Either the GPU or the CPU. If its not an unstable CPU overclock then an overheating component is my next suspect.

CPU is running at stock speeds with no OC. Cooled with a DH14. I will reduce the GFX clock to the reference speeds.
