Is it possible to output a higher resolution than monitor?

I have a IIYAMA ProLite E2207WS and the max resolution is 1680x1050 @60Hz and is it possible to overclock that to 1920x1080@75Hz my friend said he did it to his but never told me how. Is there a software to do this? Thanks.

you can render a higher resolution image (1440p for example) and then let the monitor downscale it to 1050p but you can't just make new pixels appear

Use nvidia control panel, or amd equivalent if you have amd gpu. if you have nvidia gpu i can walk you through it

Make sure that the aspect ratio is the same. You still wont get the true resolution, as the panel is only 1680x1050, but it will help in games it will work like antialiasing but not just on the corners

It can be....very complicated.
Various softwares do exist depending on whether you are on the AMD/Nvidia side of things. I did manage to get my 7950s to output above the native 1080p of my LG monitor but I couldn't downsample it to make the input work. I think it does vary on the monitor support. Maybe others had better luck than I.

I've tried it too on my LG TV and it just killed the picture everytime I would apply changes to the display settings. You might have better luck though since you have a better monitor than me :D Good luck :)

Because you would need to lower the refresh rate and change pixel timings when it mocks up the image
