Is EK the new TT for water cooling?

As i see it, there is room for a slim 240 in both the top and bottom ;)

I just ordered a Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ITX and a EK CE280 and a SE240.
Nothing else, needs to do a LOT of measuring to figure out how much modding there is needed to make it fit :D

On topic. The problem is if they start making ekspansion sets. Even a HUGE disclaimer will not stop idiots from buying a cheap solution an mixing the loop = Corrosion = Bad reputation even though they specifically said not to do it.

Just a word of warning to all you guys using alu in your loops. DO NOT use Mayhem's Blitz to clean them with. Or any other cleaner with acid in it.

Slim rads are what - 27mm? Hmm, it might be possible, if I do slim fans like I did with the Kraken X52. (The X52 is a 30mm rad)

Aluminum is harder to properly maintain than copper. I wouldn't advise using aluminum loop for first time users. If someone has a low budget it makes no sense to WC. AIO is much easier to use and it's cheaper in most cases.

not accurate at all. As stated look at AIO's those are alu rads and have been around long enough to say that alu is not hard to maintain. The user will just have t make sure they use the proper fluid each and every time they service it. With EK's longevity in the wc community I do not see that being an issue.

people are looking too hard into the aluminium thing, if you're worried about corrosion then dont put water and metal together, stick to air cooling, and at the same time trade your car in for an old school volkswagen. I think the kits are great. with a lot of cpus these days not coming with heatsinks and founders gpus being alot cheaper, these kits really are slotting in nicely for the money.

My information is accurate, yours is not. Running an Aluminum loop the potential for mixed metals loop is higer (most products use Brass/copper/stainless steel/ plastic). The typicall pre-mix coolants do not contain enough anti corrosive for a mixed metal loop. Why do you think EK places the warning on its parts?

Lmao classic

My dad is stronger than your dad :D

EK sends an all alu loop, with coolant made for it. = It will last for as long as an AIO if the user does not it up :D

Haha, the forum censored a word :D

So the fittings are all alu too with no plating?

Yes, there is a good shot of the fittings in the video by JayzTwoCents.

Side question: Are any of you bothered that EK is trying to bring custom cooling to the masses, thereby taking a 'niche' segment of the PC world and making it mainstream?

Personally, I'm all for it. Yes I know, I don't have a custom loop (yet) but anything that sparks an interest in building your own rig is a good thing.

Don't know why it would bother anybody tbh

Guys you are doing a sterling job keeping things civil (I commend you all) but please if you must add more info to a post please use the edit or multi quote buttons.

@Korreborg yes the forum does indeed censor certain words, it's a family friendly place and we'd like to keep it that way. ;)

im not talking about mixed metals as this kit is not mixed its all alu. We all (that do water cooling) you dont mix alu with copper or brass.

But for some they require proofs and stuff, ya know all sciency and the likes.

There is nothing wrong with Aluminum in general. As long as you use PROPER coolant that there is nothing to see. However, I really don't see a market for it. Since an AIO and hybrid GPU is going to be about the same price as this kit, I don't see the masses buying this. AIOs are less hassle.

If you're buying a customizable loop, then I assuming you want to customize it. The potential for buying a part that may cause problems is going to be high given that only few offer aluminum options.

If AC or WC brought this to market I wouldn't have cared. But EK's track record with products broken out of the box is significantly higher than others.

I think I'll go back to AC for GPU blocks and WC for their CPU block until EK proves their aluminum products are not going be another manufacturing pitfall.

So the main takeaway is that you have had a bad experience with EK, and therefore make an account on a forum and rants about all EK products?:D:cool:
