IPS or 120hz monitor?

1080p IPS
I will stick with 1 monitor as I don't have room for multiples.
I play skyrim, battlefield, gw2 and stuff so aren't those intensive games? Don't I rather need 120hz or is IPS really the better option? Also on youtube reviews they say 120hz is better so why exactly do you guys recommend me an IPS over 120hz mon's?

Well it's one or the other really...
The 120hz is really for 3d. If you arent interested in 3d then as it is just a TN panel, the picture quality and brightness is worse, and you cant really notice the difference between 60hz and 120hz (although the users of 120hz panels often say you can). Therefore, if you arent interested in 3D, you may as well get the best picture quality and get an IPS monitor and save some money by doing it

Well IPS gives you WAY better color reproduction and viewing angles whereas TN panels give you better response. The argument is too subjective to tell you which is better for your needs.
Ah yes that reminds me that I read that ips's generally have more input lag and some find it irritating. What do you guys think of the lag when gaming? I'm also playing league of legends for example and there I rely heavyly on reactions and just being quick.

Look at the response times before buying. Generally anything lower than 6 or 8ms is absolutely fine. My IPS is 5ms and there's no noticeable input lag. You can get some 14ms response time IPS screens, so just dont get one of those.

I bought it off amazon with prime so got it next day.

That uses the same IPS panel as the iiyama does, so it's effectively the same thing. We tend to prefer iiyama as a company here though, as they do make amazing monitors, so I'd probably still choose that

The company is like 40 years old...
It's one of the highest quality monitor manufacturers in the world and I, and I'm sure the majority of users on here, and even TTL would recommend them - as he's used them in the past.
I still dont understand the question?
I dont have any issues with dead pixels at all, plus you get a 3 year warranty on it

Hmm IPS looks nice but I keep in mind that IPS is nice for games like skyrim and the 120hz's are for games like BF3. Problem is i love to play them both equally. As for the 120hz's I really don't care for the 3d all I want is quality. And perhaps 2560 x 1400 or 1600 depending on price..

I really dont see the need for 2560x1400, and 1600. The quality is perfect on a 24 inch screen. If you have a big resolution like that on a small screen, things would get unusable IMO.
I then dont see the need for anything bigger than 24 inches, so I just cant personally see the point of a resolution that high as a monitor

I play BF3 a lot and I've not noticed any ghosting or input lag at all on my IPS monitor. As James has mentioned look for an IPS monitor with a response time below the 6 - 8 ms mark and you will be fine.

I think some of the older ones had issues with ghosting. The newer models seem to be fine now
