how about option 4, placing the res and pump to either left or right at front? or is the front reserved to something else? also the perspex looks cool. i would choose them if i had the chance to.

on the left side is where the radiators will be mounted so im not really wanting to block up to much room there. think im going to have to wait and see what works best for hose runs once its all in there

I Like Option 3 Best, although I'm sure which ever one you choose will look great!

yes i like that option 3 but it would mean having to install the pump under the cabinet in order to have the pump lower than the res

well i spent a little more time this morning marking out for the window that will be in the desk surface area as im hoping it will be here today or monday.

the inside line of masking tape to the blue line will be the window size and the outter line of masking tape might have a slot routered into it to allow me to place some leds in there for some light (i did not really want to place leds or lights pointing up as it might limit the veiw) the slot will also give me a place to run the wires so they dont hang down in veiw and from the slot they will then run out the back throw another slot thats in the surface behind the lid and down. if there is a dark area at the back of the window/motherboard then i may put some leds in the rear panel but angle then downwards.

also put my tv back on the wall today as well which has made my desk feel alot wider with out having the tv base there and also looks alot better imo.

had to use the smallest 10mm drill bit in the world as well as i could not find anything else and the cordless was not having any of it

thanks man. its the only 10mm sds bit i had but it almost came in handy as for ages i could only find three raw plugs. Plan B was to drill throw and nut and bolt it

had 20 white LED's turn up today and thought i would see how bright they were so i can work out how many ish i will need

this is just two LED's and is pretty bright in there so i dont think ill need any more than four around the motherboard and maybe two at the very front

well finaly had my perspex turn up today so got that fitted but never had time to do the lighting so thats a job for tomorrow

sorted out the lighting in the top part of the case now. Using 6 LED's which dose not seem to be to bright but bright enough for you to be able to see whats inside.

veiw from the front. The SSD i now going to be moved as i dont like it there and i think it will end up being hidden out of sight as i can not think of any where else to put it

i also got my EK GPU back plate today which is the first EK product thats turned up and im not happy with the finish on. its got a good few chips on that someone has taken a permant marker to

yer its good for now i guess before i upgrade it and this finds itself in another pc.

im guessing its made of aluminium or an alloy as i did think i could polish it which could take care of the nasty finish but i think it might look out of place

well its been a while since i updated this thread

ive not really done much to this due to being so busy for the most part of last year but now i seem to have a bit more time to hand to get a bit more done.

changed the design of the front part a bit to allow for the use of 120mm fan instead of the 80mm ones


losing the drive bays and switch area from the computer part has created some much more room


i also sorted out a better motherboard mount which looks better than the mdf underneath

testing it with LEDs


i spent quite a bit of time trying to work out what i was going to do about an easy to access USB port and also what i was going to do with my fan controller and power and rest switches.
i had also spent a fair amount of time at the start of project thinking about what i could do with this space at the back, i then had a plan to use this space to solve the above issue and also do something with what other wise would have been a bit of useless space


so i then sat down one weekend and started to think about how i could lay it out. i came up with this idea after about the 3rd time of trying


i found some scrap mdf that was lying around and thought i would make a quick version to get an idea of how it would/work



i then had some bits turn up today and thought i would cut out the parts to get a better of how it would look




i also tried to get some more mdf to make a better version taking more time over it, the first time i went to the store there was no 9mm mdf in stock and i did not want to use anything bigger (9mm is a bit much really and its not holding any weight) and then the second time i went there i had to wait for them to get the mdf from out the back as they had not put it on the shelf yet but once id got it i the went to the checkout and the line of people was like 15 deep (one checkout open) with the women on the checkout seeming to have all day to serve these people i got bored and a little angry after 10 mins of waiting and walked out but by this time it was to late to go anywhere else so i had two options wait for next week if i had time to go back/some where else to get some or say sod it and just fill it knowing that as long as it was 100% flat it would not matter as it will cover anyway. i went for the later choice as i wanted it done while i had the time and it would id also made a step forward

the end result before primer, if the weather is good tomorrow it will be in primer

Any chance you gonna upgrade to a nicer looking M/B? All this hard work deserves something that looks a tad bit more modern, instead of something that reminds me of the old p4 days haha.

erm right which board are you talking about, the Asus the with the gold/copper coloured heat sink on it of the Gigabyte one which is all black?

the Asus board is an LGA775 board that i was just using to mock up with and also had use it for again for a little while as i had to RMA my 2500k and return the Asus board that killed my 2500k in the first place.

so yes if your on about the old Asus board then im not a great fan of that but i do like the black and blue Gigabyte board as its just plain and simple

thanks its been hard going but worth it imo. haha i like to get in to making custom things but just after i started this i had a blow up on me and then i bought a cheap escort van to get me throw while my old van was having the engine rebuilt but then had more bad luck as the escort van was stolen and burnt out and they also had all the tools out the back of it (i lost about 3k worth of tools that day) as yet ive not replaced that many of my tools so build anything is hard work and a long process to say the least but i am looking to replace them soon tho as i have other projects i would like to do once this is done

yer just one of them things i guess mate. it just gets me the mess they made of the drivers door getting in to it (i have no idea what they must of used but its made a rather large dent what ever it was)

had a few bits turn up today so manage to get most of the hole filled up with parts now although im still waiting for the latching switches.

I've just looked through the entire build log I was confused as to where it was going thinking it was going to be a little untidy because of the 80mm antec fans originally put in the front but not i can see its going to look TIDY! cant wait to see it done!
