Intel Coffee Lake i7 8700K Review

Ryzen+ is four months away, really. I think that's too long to wait just for a refresh when the 8700K is a beast of a CPU for most users.

Yeah, four months is a long time. It really depends on how desperate the person is to upgrade. Even then after four months, there will always be another "wait for (Insert product here)" thing.

Also, if the main use is gaming, Ryzen+ really has to be leaps and bounds better than current gen to match Coffee Lake. Though especially at 60Hz both processor families have plenty of oomph.

Thanks guys for all the help. PC will be for gaming @60Hz @ 1080p but more so for music production.

The i7 4790K I have does the job for that with the occasional slowdown and stutter depending on load, gaming it runs perfect with my Strix 1060, can run everything maxed out. I was going to upgrade at some stage this year and I'm just worried now about this Intel stuff and slowing down my PC, plus I like the looks of the Z370 AORUS Gaming 7 board :D

The 8700K is a superior CPU for music production than even Intel's own X299 stuff. You won't take advantage of the 8700K during 60Hz/1080p gaming and a lot of performance will be wasted, but Intel's standard range of processors are noticeably faster when it comes to music production.
