Hi Guys,

i just need a little help.

i installed a new 2tb WD hdd as a secondary to my ssd with the OS installed on it.

upon booting the computer up, i got the error "Disk Read Error Occured" i proceeded to take out the new hdd and try again but now my computer is stuck at "starting windows" constantly. ive tried reinstalling but i get stuck on the same screen. ive also tried an old hdd with windows installed and get stuck on the same part.

Any idea how to resolve this, ive just spent 5 hours trying everything i can think of,.

Thanks!

Hey! Thanks, I just tried and it hasn't had any effect.

I've also tried changing the boot to achi rather than ide but that hasn't changed anything either

hi Ph235,

I've tried, but once it boots from disc it goes to the "starting windows" screen again.

I've tried everything, would it be possible this is a hardware conflict or something? I've even tried installing a copy of windows on a blank hdd and came across the exact same situation.

doesn't feel like its windows causing this.

hi mate, very strange problem indeed. As the issue is occurring with different hard drives I wonder if there is a hardware problem with either the sata connection on the mobo or the sata cable you are using - can you try a different cable in a different port and see if the problem persists? Also what operating system are you installing?

[edit] also I'm not sure if you mean you are unable to try a startup repair, or if you tried it and it didn't help

Did you move the hard disk to a diferent sata port? "if so move it back"
or do you have multiple hard disks in the system as the order may have changed.
Where windows puts its MBR and where the actuall system files is not always the same hard disk.
its mostly dependant on which sata connection its stuck to. or the order they are displayed in the bios, which you can change.
