Insomnia i42 & i43

i43 isnt at newbury it is in telford

Lol, I just this second read that the venue had changed! That'll teach me for posting before I've read the entire thread!

To be fair it did say Newbury at the top of page 3!

So, where's Telford then? And is any one swinging by Oxford on their way lol

Edit: Ok, reckon I got excited too soon. Telford isn't too far, about 100 miles or so from me, so both drive and train options are practical. However it's a bit short notice now plus I'm still not recovered from my back injury so that long in a car (and not being able to crash at a mates as I would have in Newbury) sorta scuppers it.

Ah well, a bit for forward planning on my part (and a working back) is in order methinks, ready for the next one maybe.

Well i43 is the biggest event of the year so Telford is ideal as it's a bigger venue, however I have heard that i44 (The November one) could return to Newbury as it's a smaller event so they don't need as much space.

Hi Brooksie,

Likely that'd be the one to go to for me then, though I'll wait until the venue is confirmed! I guess Newbury is ideal for those travelling up from the South. Telford does look like an excellent venue and, given more notice and a bit better health, it would have been a doable commute for me.

Still, I will wait and see what the interest in Novembers event is like on these forums and go from there. I certainly hope to be a little more mobile come then.

Cheers,

Scoob.

Seems I will be going to i43 on Saturday as a spectator with a couple of mates, even better since they announced BF3 will be there

Nice, have a great day mate.

Really would have liked to see BF3 in the flesh so to speak!

I would love to go but my pc weighs a ton

That's the thing, plus a weighty PC is more prone to things coming loose in transit.

You almost need to build yourself a light-weight stripped out gamer for such events...likely under air to keep the weight down...sorta defeats the point if you want to show of your uber rig though

My current gamer, being air cooled (well Kuhler 620 for CPU but hey) would be fairly transportable - I actually kept the box the case came in (as I have for my Antec 900 and my 300) for just such occasions. It keeps the kit nicely padded but wouldn't be so easy to carry for some - luckily I have long arms...though my back almost stops me carrying just myself at the moment lol.

I can imagine a decent water-cooled rig in a large case, such as my friend Cosmos S, could weigh in excess of 40 kilos+
