Mining cryptocurrencys has became more and more popular as Bitcoin, Coinye, Litecoin and others hit the headlines.
Many PC users have until now been able to generate some serious money mining, compensating for their electricity use and hardware costs. This depends highly on the current price of the currency and the ease of mining, with the most famous online currency Bitcoin being unfeasible to mine using consumer CPUs and GPUs for some time.
On Tuesday the US PC builder iBUYPOWER announced their range of PCs dedicated to mining digital currency, with specs ranging from dual R9 270Xs to triple 290Xs.
Their two base specifications are as follows;
The rigs remain highly customize-able by the purchaser, with options like sound deadening, upgraded cooling, PSU, GPU upgrades and even case lightning.
It is undoubted that these mining grade PCs on offer are ideally suited to mining digital currency, but with how quickly mining difficulty is changing a currency which is currently profitable may not be in a few months time.
With the current variability in the cryptocurrency market it is highly recommended to no start serious mining without first knowing what you are doing, what currencies are currently the most profitable and how long it will take to recoup the cost of a mining PC.
Questions are also being asked as to whether or not PCs using consumer grade components can be a good investment for 24/7 use under full load, I expect plenty of returns for GPUs, especially for users of multiple stock R9 290s or 290Xs.
What do you guys think of building dedicated mining PCs? Are any of you guys considering building a miner of your own? Please comment below.
